There is quite a lot of wastewater at home that can be used for growing flowers. Usually people do not pay attention to it, yet this wastewater actually has a use for growing flowers. Let's take a look below at what kinds there are.

Fish tank water

Fish tank water is slightly acidic, so it is more suitable for acid-loving flowers, can improve the soil, and avoid leaves turning yellow because the soil is too alkaline. Fish tank water should be left to stand for a period of time before use. After watering with fish tank water, fertilization should be controlled to avoid fertilizer damage. Fish tank water that contains disinfectant or salt should not be used to water flowers.

Air conditioner water

Air conditioner water is soft water, with little pollution and high purity, so compared with tap water, it is more suitable for watering flowers, avoiding soil compaction and alkalization. Freshly drained air conditioner water should be left to stand for a while before watering flowers, and it can be used directly to irrigate the roots or sprayed around the plants.

Egg-boiling water

Egg-boiling water contains nutrients and can provide nutrients for flowers, making the flowers flourish with lush branches and leaves, more brilliant, and with a longer flowering period. Cooled egg water can be used directly to water flowers.

Rusty water

Rusty water can supplement iron and help flowers improve iron-deficiency yellowing. Especially for flowers such as gardenia and money tree, watering with rusty water can turn leaves from yellow to green and restore a glossy shine.

Soak old iron nails in water until the water turns yellow, then dilute with water and use it to water flowers. For hydroponic flowers, iron nails can be added directly to the water.

Rice washing water

Rice washing water contains components such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Rice washing water needs to be fermented and decomposed. In this way, the fermented rice washing water is weakly acidic, improves the soil, and prevents soil compaction. So it is suitable for application to acid-loving flowers such as jasmine and gardenia.

Put rice washing water into a plastic bottle to ferment. Adding orange peel can remove the odor, and it can fully decompose in 1~2 months.

Leftover tea water

Leftover tea water is weakly acidic and has the same effect as fish tank water and rice washing water. It can regulate soil pH and prevent soil compaction. At the same time, it is rich in elements such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, which can make the plant robust and produce more flowers. It can also help flowers improve resistance and prevent infection by pests and diseases.

Leftover tea water needs to be left to stand for 1~2 days, filter out the tea residue, and dilute with half water before it can be used to water flowers. The usual frequency of watering flowers is once every 10 days, and it should also be done according to the actual conditions.
