A pot of variegated clivia costs 1800 yuan, and flower lovers think it's worth it for the looks

Clivia is a common household flower, and many people grow it now, because it not only has emerald green leaves, but the whole plant's shape is very beautiful and upright. In winter it can also bloom with beautiful large flowers. I remember there was once an incident of a "sky-high priced clivia", with a single pot costing as much as 77.77 million yuan, which is truly unimaginable.
Today I'd like to share with you a type of clivia called variegated clivia, a very popular new variety. Its leaves are green and white, and when the leaves are placed in sunlight, the colors are extremely beautiful. In fact, variegated clivia appeared because of a genetic mutation in clivia, which is why it shows leaves of varying colors. Compared with ordinary green-leaf clivia, variegated clivia is rarer, so a mature pot of variegated clivia is worth more than 1000 yuan.
Therefore, more details need attention during care:
1. Choosing soil
When caring for variegated clivia, you must choose loose, breathable, fertile soil. Use 1 part humus soil, 1 part river sand, 1 part garden soil, and 1 part fermented peanut shell organic fertilizer. After thoroughly mixing, plant it in a pot. This not only lets the roots grow in a ventilated, breathable environment, but the soil is also fertile, providing abundant nutrients for plant growth.
2. Controlling light
Compared with green-leaf clivia, variegated clivia needs more careful attention when receiving light, because its leaves have white stripes, where the chlorophyll content is very low, so the plant's photosynthesis capacity is somewhat weaker. Therefore, when caring for variegated clivia, you must let the plant receive scattered light for a longer time. Only then can it carry out sufficient photosynthesis, convert nutrients, and grow quickly.
3. Fertilizing reasonably
Compared with green-leaf clivia, variegated clivia grows more slowly. Especially in the seedling stage, variegated clivia grows noticeably slower than ordinary clivia. So during care, fertilizer must be replenished in time. Besides applying base fertilizer when potting and choosing loose, breathable soil, you should also continuously supplement organic fertilizer or compound fertilizer during care. Generally, in spring and autumn, supplement the plant with compound fertilizer to promote rapid leaf growth. After entering winter, variegated clivia needs phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, which can promote flower bud development and let it bloom with beautiful flowers in winter.
4. Paying attention to watering
Variegated clivia also has fleshy roots and is a plant that likes to grow in moist soil, but when watering the plant you must control the watering. Water thoroughly each time, and do not let water accumulate in the pot, otherwise root rot and yellowing leaves will occur.
Among variegated clivia varieties, based on differences in leaf vein color, they are divided into the following varieties, for everyone to refer to when identifying and studying variegated clivia in the future:
1. Golden Silk Path: white, yellow, and gray strands distributed unevenly on the leaves
2. Rimmed Path: white on both sides of the leaf and green in the middle
3. A Thread of Sky: green on both sides and white in the middle
4. Mandarin Duck Path: leaf green and white symmetrical, half each
5. Variegated Path: white, green, yellow, and gray lines clearly distinct on the leaves
It is autumn now, which is also when clivia grows quickly. Whether it is ordinary green-leaf clivia or variegated clivia, careful care is needed so they can bloom with beautiful flowers in winter. Flower lovers who like growing orchids can try growing this new variety.
