How to care for lilies in winter? Do this one thing for safe overwintering
The flower market has also reached its busiest time. Even so, after these few days, winter will come, and how to get the flowers through winter becomes a problem. Recently, my aunt bought a potted lily. Thinking about the arrival of winter, she insisted on calling Huahua over to her home to explain how to care for potted lilies in winter.
After Huahua finished explaining to my aunt, she didn't forget about you either, and quickly wrote it down to share with everyone!
First, Huahua wants to tell everyone that, in fact, lilies only need about 70 days from sprouting to blooming. This is also why many people buy and sell lilies even outside the lily season.
Generally speaking, if you start growing them in April, the lilies will bloom once in June. Once summer arrives and the weather gets hotter and hotter, the lilies will enter a dormant period and rest for a while. As time goes on and the temperature begins to drop little by little, all we need to do at this point is keep the soil slightly moist; with careful care, the lilies will grow in the spring of the following year.
So how should lilies be grown in winter? In winter, lilies, like other plants, will enter a dormant period. If we grow lilies in autumn, it is best to let them bloom before the temperature gets colder, so as not to affect the lily's growth cycle.
If the lilies cannot bloom before winter, you can only place them in a sunny spot to grow, and it is best to ensure that the surrounding temperature is suitable for the lilies to survive. If you don't want your lilies to bloom out of season, you can also place them in an environment below 10°C, which can prevent the lilies from sprouting.
If you want the lilies to bloom during the Spring Festival, it is best to calculate the days in advance, as doing so can make the Spring Festival even more festive!
For lilies, the optimal suitable temperature should not be lower than 10°C, nor higher than 30°C, otherwise it will cause the lilies to enter dormancy. In winter, lilies generally enter the dormant stage, so we just need to keep the lily's soil slightly moist.
There is another situation: if the lily has already started to sprout by winter but has not yet been able to bloom, then at this point the lily basically will not bloom. Huahua wants to remind everyone that no matter what, getting through winter safely is the most important thing~
Finally, I hope everyone can grow lilies they are satisfied with!
