Whenever a holiday or weekend comes around, where are the crowds thickest? Huahua has noticed that supermarkets are packed every weekend! But then again, it makes sense - after a week of work, the weekend is the perfect time to take a break, wander around the supermarket, and buy some things you or your family like to eat, then enjoy a lovely two-day rest.

The reason many people love shopping at supermarkets is actually quite simple. Supermarkets aren't as messy as wet markets. Even though there are more people, you don't have to haggle - shopping is entirely self-service, making it a really great place to go. On top of that, there are plenty of everyday items you need to buy, like personal care products, seasonings, snacks and so on, all available in one stop - really convenient.

But have you ever thought about it - is what supermarkets sell really good? Even though the produce section constantly pumps in cold air from the AC, is it really fresh? Today Huahua is here to sound a warning, so everyone knows that some sections sell things you shouldn't buy!

Boxed vegetables

Many younger shoppers prefer to buy boxed vegetables at the supermarket. These vegetables are wrapped in cling film and look very refined, but that's just on the surface. Supermarket staff told Huahua that when they package these vegetables, they're actually from the previous day or the day before - not the same day's vegetables, so of course they're not fresh. Many people just see the refined look, happen to find the price low, and buy them. What a rip-off!

The deli section

I believe many friends, like Huahua, find their eyes glued to the deli section every time they shop at a large supermarket - you can smell the aroma from far away, so tempting! But Huahua still has to remind everyone that the items in the deli and braised food sections contain a lot of additives, spices and so on. If there are children or elderly people at home who can't eat such strongly flavored food, it's best to eat less of it.

Furthermore, you never know whether the meat in the braised food is fresh. If you really have a craving, eating it once in a while is fine, but definitely don't overdo it.

Pre-cut fruit

It's easy to notice that supermarkets also sell pre-cut fruit wrapped in cling film. Huahua wants to remind everyone that it's best not to buy this fruit. Huahua once saw them in a supermarket take fruit that had already gone bad and wasn't fresh, cut it up, and sell it in a different form. This kind of practice really isn't something to be encouraged, though it can also be seen as a merchant's promotional method. It's better to buy according to your needs.

Have you bought any of these three types of supermarket items before? Now that you know the inside story, you'll need to keep your eyes open next time you shop! Especially in the deli section - Huahua suggests eating less of it, and having it just once in a while to satisfy a craving!
