Growing Clivia in autumn: remember 3 "little tricks", and it will produce "big flower buds" in winter, it really works!

Clivia is a very popular household flower. Many people keep Clivia at home because it not only has emerald-green leaves and a beautiful plant shape, but can also produce beautiful large flowers in winter. Keeping Clivia at home implies that the owner is upright and unyielding, and it is a flower that can reflect the owner's taste.

It is now autumn, which is also the golden period for Clivia's rapid growth. Clivia undergoes a brief dormancy each year during the high temperatures of summer, and after the temperature drops, it wakes up again in autumn and grows normally. Therefore, caring for Clivia in autumn is very important. Only with proper autumn care methods can the plant grow rapidly and produce beautiful flower buds in winter. Today I will share with you 1 "little trick" for caring for Clivia in autumn.

1. Repotting and changing the soil

After autumn begins, when caring for Clivia, the first thing is to check the condition of the plant's roots, because Clivia is a fleshy-rooted plant with a relatively high demand for nutrients, and it generally needs to be repotted and given new soil once a year, otherwise the plant's roots will fill the entire pot. Autumn is also very suitable for repotting Clivia and changing its soil. Generally, prepare a mixed soil for flower growing: 1 part river sand, 1 part garden soil, 1 part humus soil, and 1 part fermented peanut shell organic fertilizer. Then take the Clivia out of the pot, prune off the old roots, place the plant in a cool place to dry for one day, and pot it and add soil. Place the potted plant in a cool place to recover for one week, and the plant will then establish itself and enter the growth period.

2. Lighting and watering

When caring for Clivia in autumn, be sure to pay attention to watering and lighting. When watering Clivia, be sure to water only when the soil is dry and water thoroughly each time. If water accumulates in the pot for a long time, it will cause the Clivia roots to rot; not only will it fail to bloom, but it may also rot and die. Therefore, before each watering, be sure to check the dryness and moisture of the soil, and water thoroughly once after it is completely dry. In daily care, the Clivia pot needs to be placed on a balcony with good lighting. There is also a particular way to position the pot: place it on a south-facing balcony, then have half of the plant's leaves facing east and half facing west. Let sunlight shine perpendicularly on the leaves, and rotate the Clivia pot 180 degrees every week. Only in this way will the Clivia leaves grow neat and glossy.

3. Fertilizing to promote flowering

After autumn ends, Clivia's flowering period will soon arrive, so it needs to be supplemented with phosphorus and potassium fertilizer to promote flower bud development and avoid the situation where Clivia fails to bloom because the flower stalk is trapped. Therefore, every week spray the Clivia leaves with a 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate aqueous solution, so that the flower buds can absorb sufficient nutrients and develop and grow rapidly. In winter, it will produce beautiful large flower buds. Once you see the Clivia blooming, stop fertilizing.

When caring for Clivia in winter, place the pot on a warm balcony with good lighting, so that the Clivia can bloom in winter and also pass through winter smoothly.
