Golden Camellia blooms in October; come to know this beautiful flower in the golden autumn season
Camellias are very commonly grown in China, and many varieties are even Class I protected plants in China. As for its twin sister, naturally the beautiful Golden Camellia is the most outstanding! The Golden Camellia's flowers are golden yellow, dazzling and eye-catching, as if coated with a layer of wax, crystalline and glossy, with a seemingly translucent quality. The Golden Camellia grows singly in the leaf axils; when in bloom, the flowers are cup-shaped, pot-shaped or bowl-shaped, charming and varied, elegant and graceful.
In the past, people had never seen a variety with golden yellow flowers. It was first discovered by the Chinese botanist Zuo Jinglie on July 29, 1933, at Axie Pass in Dalu Township, Fangcheng County, Guangxi, and was formally named "Camellia nitidissima C.W.Chi" in 1948 by the Chinese botanist Qi Jingwen. Abroad, it is called the magical Oriental magic tea, and is hailed as the "giant panda of the plant kingdom" and the "queen of the tea family."
In fact, the Golden Camellia can be considered a very ancient plant native to China, extremely rare, with an extremely narrow distribution. 90% of the world's wild Golden Camellias are distributed only in the area of the Lanshan branch range of the Shiwandashan Mountains in Fangchenggang City, Guangxi, China, growing below 700 m in elevation, and most commonly found in the range between 200 and 500 m in elevation. The lower limit of its vertical distribution is about 20 m in elevation, for example on the coastal hilly terraces near Dawangjiang in Fangcheng County. The upper limit of its vertical distribution can reach 890 m in elevation; for example, in Natao Mountain in Ningming County, individual small-petaled Golden Camellias can still be seen. Their numbers are extremely few, making them one of the rarest and most precious plants in the world.
From this it can be seen that growing Golden Camellia at home is actually quite rare, and the Golden Camellia's economic value is extremely high.First, its value as an ornamental flower is high.A Golden Camellia bonsai 1 to 1.5 m tall with a good shape is priced at 8,000 yuan; one about 2 m tall is priced at 26,000 yuan to tens of thousands of yuan; Japan once wanted to buy Chinese Golden Camellia at 25,000 USD per plant.
Second, the Golden Camellia's added value is extremely high.Products made through industrialized deep processing are recognized and favored by a large number of consumers, and their prices rise steadily. In particular, the price of the flower tea is considerable, tending toward a situation of supply falling short of demand.
The discovery of the Golden Camellia filled the gap in the tea family's lack of golden yellow flowers. Its waxy green leaves are crystalline and glossy; the petals are translucent, firm, bright and smooth, spotless; the flower buds are round and full, brimming with golden splendor; the petals overlap in dense layers, fresh and pretty, dotting among jade-like leaves and fine branches. With graceful charm, golden petals and jade-like stamens, it is beautiful and delightful, pleasing to the eye, and its ornamental value is unmatched.
The Golden Camellia has a special color genetic gene, DNA, and its reproduction is very difficult to replicate. Using high technology to solve the survival genes of fast-propagated excellent Golden Camellia seedlings and overcome the difficult problem of their very low survival rate; breaking through the key technology of the Golden Camellia's slow growth and low yield, greatly increasing the yield of large-scale Golden Camellia planting;deeply developing a new generation of world-class medical and health products from the Golden Camellia to benefit human health, all have extremely important scientific research value.
