For urban households growing flowers, soil is often a worry. In fact, you only need to collect some sawdust from a wood processing factory or furniture production facility to make a very ideal flower-growing substrate yourself. Sawdust has good properties of being loose, air-permeable, water-permeable and water-retentive, and it is clean and hygienic, while also having strong heat retention, which is especially beneficial to root growth.

First put the collected sawdust into a plastic bag or bucket, add some water as appropriate, seal it and let it compost and ferment for 2 months, then take it out and sun-dry it under strong sunlight for 3-4 days. After disinfection it is ready to use.

Recently some orchid growers have been discussing the issue of orchid potting media. In fact, using media such as sawdust and wood shavings has many benefits that hard potting media cannot match!

1: Easy to care for, no need to water as often as with media like Sendang soil; once every 3-7 days is enough.

2: Low cost, almost no RMB needed! Haha!

3: Good root development: since last year I have planted several pots and found that the root system is better than with other potting media! The new shoots are also stronger than with Sendang soil plus Zhijin fertilizer!
