Giving potted plants as gifts is becoming more and more popular. If you give a bouquet directly to a friend, it may only stay fresh for about a week, and some wilt after just a few days. But giving potted plants and flowers to a friend is very creative, since they can be kept at home and grown, and even a beginner can keep them alive for more than a month.

It is not only flowering plants that are suitable as gifts for friends; some plants that stay green all year round are also very suitable.

1. Low-maintenance plants

Some plants carry very beautiful meanings and will bring your friend some blessings and good luck. You can choose the right plant according to your friend's situation. If he is busy with work, you can choose to give some drought-tolerant plants or hydroponic plants, which do not need frequent care and can still grow well, such as the common snake plant, aloe, money tree and ZZ plant.

2. Lucky bamboo

If you want to bring your friend even more good luck, you can give her lucky bamboo, preferably grown in water. You only need to prepare a bottle, fill it with a little clean water, and it can be grown in a bright spot; keep the environment warm and humid all year round, and it will grow well even without frequent water changes.

3. African violet

I think the African violet is also a good choice as a gift for a friend. It can stay in bloom all year round and can flower even in low-light conditions, making it very suitable for growing indoors. It also comes in a very rich range of varieties, with delicate flowers, and is fairly easy to care for, not needing frequent fertilising or watering.

4. Clivia

The clivia has a very elegant appearance, and both its leaves and flowers are highly ornamental. Paired with a fresh purple clay pot, it makes a great gift for a friend. It blooms around the Spring Festival and can be enjoyed for a very long time. It only needs appropriate scattered light in its growing environment and does not need frequent watering.

5. Herb plants

Herb plants such as lavender, rosemary and mint are also very suitable for giving to friends. Although they cannot often produce very charming flowers, their leaves are fragrant and edible, and regularly cutting the leaves to make desserts and drinks is also a good choice.

6. Bulb plants

All the plants and flowers above are very suitable for giving to friends. If you give a bouquet to a friend, it may need to be thrown away after just a few days.

When autumn comes, you can also give your friend some bulb plants, such as the most common tulips, hyacinths and narcissus. They can all be grown in water; just prepare a little clean water and place them in a suitable spot, and they will bloom.
