We have now entered late autumn, and the temperature at this time is most suitable for the growth of the Christmas cactus, but this is also when the Christmas cactus needs nutrients and water the most, because the flowering period of the Christmas cactus is in winter, and late autumn is exactly when the Christmas cactus shifts from the stem segment growth stage to the reproductive growth stage. If care is improper at this time, it can easily lead to fewer blooms, bud drop, or even no flowers at all. So right now, quickly do these three things for your Christmas cactus, so that its stem segments become plump and green, and only then will it have more flowers when it blooms, without bud drop, and with a long flowering period.

1. Increase nutrients at the right time. Autumn and late autumn are the vigorous growth stage of the Christmas cactus, and also the key period for preparing to form buds; insufficient fertilizer and water will lead to malnutrition in the Christmas cactus. To ensure that the Christmas cactus can grow luxuriantly and produce more flowers, fertilizer should be added in a timely manner, but chemical fertilizers are not suitable for the Christmas cactus. In the flower pot, generally use self-fermented, thoroughly decomposed dilute liquid fertilizer or a special fertilizer for Christmas cactus, once every half month, used twice in a row. For the leaves, a potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution can be used as a spray, spraying once every 10 days, spraying 2--3 times in a row, and regularly spraying with clean water. Keep its stem segments vigorous; this is beneficial both for the formation of flower buds and for bright flower colors.

2. Increase light and maintain a suitable temperature. The Christmas cactus likes light, but avoids high temperatures in summer, and is also fairly shade-tolerant; its light requirements are not strong, and indoor light can maintain its normal growth, but in winter and spring it is often placed in bright places such as windows, which can make the plant more robust and glossy and the flowers more brilliant. After flowering, to extend the ornamental flowering period, it can be placed in a cool place. The suitable temperature for the growth period of the Christmas cactus is 18-23°C, and the flowering temperature is preferably 10-15°C, not exceeding 25°C, with 15°C being best to maintain, and the winter temperature not lower than 10°C.

3. Do not casually change the light-facing position. The Christmas cactus is a flower with a very strong phototropic tendency. During its growth process, if its light-facing position is changed, it will have an adverse effect on its growth. Especially during the bud formation period, casually changing its light-facing position may cause blind buds and bud drop. Therefore, during the care process of the Christmas cactus, do not frequently change its light-facing position. This ensures that it blooms abundantly and has a long flowering period.
