Growing chives in flower pots is trending: learn the method and harvest one crop after another
I heard that growing chives in flower pots is very popular lately. Chives are green and lush, refreshing and appetizing to eat, and growing them at home really is a good choice. But growing chives also requires mastering certain methods, otherwise the growth will not be lush. Huahua knows some small methods for growing chives that can make your chives grow tall and thick!
Generally, we use two methods to grow chives: one is the sowing method, and the other is growing them from chive roots.
1. Sowing method
The sowing method requires us to prepare fresh, unexpired chive seeds. Before planting, they need to be soaked in water for three or four hours, then wrapped in a paper towel to germinate. The germination method is very simple: wrap the seeds in toilet paper, then spray the toilet paper with water. Spray a little water every day like this, and after four or five days, the chive seeds will send out tender white sprouts. If you plant them at this point, they will sprout and grow much faster.
2. Chive root planting method
This is the most commonly used and simplest method for growing chives in flower pots. When planting with chive roots, choose a larger flower pot if possible, because chives grow fast, which means the root system will be very developed, so you need to leave enough room for growth. If you want chives to grow fast and well, let me give you a tip here: when planting, use a good base fertilizer. Chives are a fertilizer-loving plant; with good fertilizer, the growth will naturally be much better.
For the base fertilizer when planting chives, we can mix plant ash and chicken manure fertilizer together, then cover with soil, and afterward put the chives in. Remember that when planting chives, you do not need to cover them with too much soil; just enough to cover the roots is sufficient. After planting, first water the chives thoroughly, then place them in a sunny and ventilated spot for care. In about half a month, you will see the chives sprout.
When the chives grow to 20 to 40 cm, they can be harvested and eaten. Before harvesting, apply a light fertilizer water once, so that after cutting, the chives can enter a vigorous growth stage again. Repeat this process, and one pot of planted chives can be harvested for two or three years, one crop after another. It really is very convenient.
Friends who like eating chives can choose to grow several pots at home, but when planting, also pay attention to the spacing between the chives; they cannot be too densely planted, otherwise they will not get enough nutrients and the growth will not be impressive.
