Prune bougainvillea like this and it will bloom 3 times a year, each time a big flower ball

A few days ago, Huahua went to visit someone and found that all the flowers at her sister's house had grown into big flower balls. How exactly were they grown? After asking carefully, it turned out the secret was pruning. For the specific method, come take a look with Huahua~

Give summer chrysanthemums a haircut and they will grow into a big flower ball in 3 months

Huahua will take Mingliu Qianqiu among summer chrysanthemums as an example. It can bloom from May to November, with a super long flowering period, and the secret to making it grow into a big flower ball lies in pruning.

Generally, pruning is done three times a year. After two flowering periods, it should be heavily pruned. For this pot of Mingliu Qianqiu in the picture, after the summer flowers fade, give it a haircut, leaving only about 10 cm of branches.

You can imagine that in half a month it can grow back again, and its leaves cover the flower pot, as if you can already foresee how it will look when it blooms.

In 3 months, we can welcome its second flowering period. In October, it will again be a mass of big flower balls. When light weakens and the weather turns cool, the small white chrysanthemums can even turn pink.

After the second flowering fades, we do another heavy pruning, repeating the operation after the summer flowers fade. When spring warms up and before the plant grows flower buds, do light pruning and pinch the tips to encourage branching, and in summer it can again grow into a big flower ball.

Pruning bougainvillea promotes growth without leaf drop

Bougainvillea is now in full bloom. After enjoying the flowers, we should prune according to the plant's condition.

Branches such as overly dense inner branches, withered and weak branches, and leggy branches should all be pruned off. Otherwise, light cannot get in, and it is very easy to cause a large number of leaves to drop.

For the branches we keep, we can also cut off the tips at 30 cm, and at the same time shorten the plant's side branches to encourage the bougainvillea to produce more new branches.

If it is an older bougainvillea, we can prune it heavily as appropriate, keeping the lowest 2~3 buds on each main branch and pruning off all the other branches, to promote plant renewal and rejuvenation.

Pruning petunias makes them plump into a ball in 1 month

If you want petunias to fill the pot, the main thing is to prune and pinch, promote branching, and control their growth direction.

When pruning, pay attention to controlling its shape and make sure you can prune it into a spherical shape. Just leave 4~5 leaves on each branch.

After pruning, the plant is in a growth stage. Pay attention to often turning the pot so the petunia can fully receive light. Otherwise, it is very easy to develop a lopsided crown or a bald middle phenomenon~

Pinch periwinkles and they will rapidly sprout flower buds

Seeing that someone else's periwinkle had grown into a big flower ball, I bought one myself, but it grew taller and taller. Counting four or five branches, fewer than 10 flowers had bloomed.

The secret to growing a periwinkle ball lies in pinching. When pruning, maintain a good spherical shape, pay attention to making it round and even, and for branches that are too tall, just leave 2~4 leaves.

If you want a compact plant shape, you have to prune heavily, especially those branches that grow long and tall and are about to fall over. Do not feel sorry for them. If you pinch too lightly at the beginning, in the end the plant shape will fall apart!
