Snake Plant, Peace Lily, ZZ Plant not growing well? Throw them in water and they'll thrive more and more

ZZ Plant, Snake Plant, Peace Lily and other flowers have root systems that aren't particularly developed. If you grow them in soil, poor watering control easily leads to root rot. It's better to grow them in water - not only will they not rot, but their roots will be especially vigorous and their leaves will be lush and glossy!
Throw ZZ Plant in water, roots sprout like crazy without rotting
Gardeners who grow ZZ Plant at home will find that it easily gets root rot, basically caused by soil that is too wet, too stuffy, or poor ventilation. If you can't control watering well, or your home doesn't have good ventilation, Huahua suggests putting it in water culture.

1. If the ZZ Plant's roots have rotted, cut off the rotten roots and stick the healthy branches in water. Change the water every 2-3 days, and in about 20 days white roots will grow out.
2. If both the branches and roots of your ZZ Plant have rotted, you can pull off healthy leaves for water culture, and they can also grow roots - though whether they sprout small shoots depends on luck!
2. Besides branch water culture and leaf water culture, ZZ Plant can also be water-cultured using its small fleshy root tubers. Although it's slower, it's especially rewarding!
3. Pull off the small fleshy tubers from the ZZ Plant's roots, put them in a shallow dish or a hydroponic planting basket. The water level should just barely cover a tiny bit of the lower part. Change the water daily and mist the tubers to keep them moist!
4. Roots grow in about 1 month. The roots grown from tuber water culture are thicker and stronger than those from branch water culture. Change the water about every 5 days.
5. Sprouting begins in about 2 months. You can add 2 drops of nutrient solution to the water each week and give it a little sunlight, and it will grow fast.
6. The small shoots grow bigger and bigger and keep sprouting more and more, feeling just like bamboo shoots breaking through the ground!
7. After 3 months, the first shoots to emerge begin to unfold their leaves!
8. At 3 and a half months, the small shoots unfold their leaves one after another.
9. At 4 and a half months, you harvest a pot of lush green water-cultured ZZ Plant!
Water-cultured Snake Plant
Snake Plant roots are thin and weak - a little waterlogging and it will show you root rot. So gardeners who can't get watering amounts right can try water-culturing their Snake Plant!
1. Take the Snake Plant out of the soil and cut off rotten, soft, blackened roots. If they're all rotten, cut off all the roots, not leaving a single bit.
2. After cutting the roots, put the Snake Plant in a ventilated, shady place and let it dry for 2-3 days to let the wounds heal.
3. Prepare a hydroponic bottle or plastic bottle and pour in
clean water. Put the Snake Plant in the bottle opening so its roots just barely touch the water surface a tiny bit, and that's enough. Water roots will grow in 1-2 weeks!
4. If it's hard to keep it steady, you can buy a hydroponic planting basket, put the Snake Plant on the basket, then add ceramsite to weigh down the roots, or place some pebbles to weigh down the roots.
5. Change the water about every 3 days before rooting, and once every 7 days after rooting. Add 2 drops of nutrient solution to the water each month, and it will grow fast!
Water-cultured Peace Lily
The Peace Lily's watering is also hard to control - too much water and the roots drown, too little and the leaves wilt. And if it's not grown well it won't bloom. It's better to water-culture it - clean, no root rot, and it absolutely loves to bloom!
1. Withhold water from the Peace Lily for 1 week in advance so the soil becomes fairly dry, then tip out the Peace Lily, shake off the soil, and separate the tangled roots.
2. Cut off aged and rotten roots and leave it in a shady place to dry for a while.
3. Put the Peace Lily into a hydroponic bottle and pour in clean water. Note that the water level should only reach 2/3 or 1/3 of the Peace Lily's roots - don't let the water completely submerge the roots.
4. If it tends to topple over, weigh it down with stones, place it in a spot with bright, indirect light, and after water roots grow, apply some nutrient solution, especially one high in phosphorus, to guarantee blooms all year round!
Alright, that's today's water culture tips,
and that's all we'll introduce for now.
There are many, many more flowers that can be water-cultured,
such as Money Tree, Radermachera, Asparagus Fern, and so on.
If you can't grow them well,
just throw them into water,
guaranteed to surprise you!
