For me, the most ideal state of life is:

Me tending succulents in the yard, with cats and dogs playing at my feet. When tired, I nap in a rattan chair, and when I wake up, I drink a cup of jasmine tea and enjoy a cozy life.

But real life is:

Every morning after being woken up by the alarm n times, I muster enormous courage to get out of bed and rush hurriedly to work. After getting home at night, even if I am dog-tired, I still go to the balcony first to check on the succulents.

Feng Tang wrote an article titled "How to Avoid Becoming a Greasy Middle-Aged Sleazy Man."

1. Don't become a fat person;

2. Don't stop learning;

3. Don't sit around doing nothing;

4. Don't talk about sex in public (unless you are an erotic book writer);

5. Don't reminisce about the past (even if you are an old general);

6. Don't lecture the younger generation;

7. Don't cause trouble for others;

8. Don't stop shopping;

9. Don't be filthy;

10. Don't despise human habits that have nothing to do with age.

So, how do you avoid becoming a greasy middle-aged woman?

First of all, definitely don't let yourself get fat! Work hard at fitness, keep learning, dress yourself up, and maintain the ability to be single. Getting older is not scary; what's scary is your mindset growing old.

May we stay away from greasiness and vulgarity, care for men, not complain about our husbands in public, live out the rest of our lives well, and make the world a better place.

Whether toward people or things, our understanding is always sometimes mistaken.

Today let's talk about the misunderstandings most succulent lovers have about succulents. See how many you fit into~

1. Radiation protection

The claim about succulents protecting against radiation comes from the Swiss Institute of Earth Biology in Sardonà in the 1980s.

At that time, an experiment was done on some white-collar workers with headaches. A pot of cactus was placed on the office desk by the computer, and after two years the headaches were found to have disappeared.

Later it was said that the cactus absorbed the rays released, and later still it evolved into succulents protecting against radiation.But the study did not monitor changes in electromagnetic radiation intensity.

In fact, according to scientific research, no potted plant has a radiation-protection function. Resistance to sunlight exposure does not equal the ability to absorb electromagnetic radiation.

The only way to reduce radiation is to reduce the time spent using computers and mobile phones. As for the white-collar workers' headaches being cured in the experiment,it should have been caused by psychological suggestion and the pleasant feeling brought by the plants.

2. Purifying the air

Succulents are too tiny to have an air-purifying effect.

On the contrary, their greatest function is decoration and healing.

3. Succulents are easy to grow

Many sellers advertise under the banner that succulents are easy to grow and suitable for keeping on an office desk.

However, after beginners buy them and grow them for a while, they either flatten out like a big pancake or their color becomes increasingly dull and lusterless. In this way the succulents remain in a sub-healthy state, and maybe before long they die.

4. The more expensive the succulent, the better

You buy an expensive one, and within a few days of getting it home it becomes unspeakably ugly.

5. Wash the roots as soon as you bring a succulent home

Right after buying a pot of succulents, you wash the roots, fearing that the original soil contains bacteria or viruses you don't know about, affecting the succulent's healthy growth.

Generally speaking, for a newly acquired succulent, unless pest damage is found. The succulent's roots may hide insect eggs, and only washing the roots can help the succulent grow healthily.

In this case, washing the succulent's roots is necessary. Otherwise, there is no need to wash the roots of a newly acquired succulent, so as to avoid damaging its roots.

6. Always keeping them in the sun

Giving succulents a sunny environment can indeed help their growth. But this does not mean that no matter what the weather is and no matter what the temperature is, the succulents should be left baking in the sun.

Different varieties have different degrees of need for sunlight. Even for the same variety, in different seasons and different growth cycles, the demand for sunlight varies greatly.

Moreover, in summer, most succulents enter a dormant period, and at this time attention should be paid to appropriate shading from the sun.

7. Applying large amounts of fertilizer

The growing environment of the vast majority of succulents does not need much fertilizer. Because succulent plants, after many years of evolution, have already adapted to loose and barren growing environments.

If you feel your succulents really need fertilizing, applying fertilizer about once every three months is enough. Try not to apply organic fertilizer, to avoid causing pests and diseases.

8. A black stem means black rot

When you see the succulent's stem turn black, you think it has black rot. Beheading, trimming leaves, disinfecting, you are busily occupied.

Dear, sometimes that is just the normal lignification of the succulent's stem. As long as the leaves are still healthy and plump, it does not have black rot~ Don't rush to rescue it, observe carefully.

9. Watering succulents at noon

Watering at noon can easily damage the succulent's roots and cause irreparable trauma to the succulent.

When watering, do not get water on the succulent's leaves, otherwise it can easily scorch the leaves and hinder the succulent's growth.

10. Lacking patience during root recovery

Different succulent varieties require different amounts of time for root recovery.

Therefore, when succulents are recovering their roots, you must wait patiently and not rush to sentence your succulents to death.
