Spider plants are a kind of potted plant we grow often, but these three kinds of spider plants either have very beautiful and lush leaves, or bloom in a particularly vivid, pretty and bright way, and they are also very simple to care for and even easier to propagate.

These 3 beautiful spider plants root as soon as a stem is tossed into soil, then shoot up like crazy, with plenty of lush leaves!

Curly spider plant

It is a kind of spider plant, and its plant shape is the same as a spider plant too, only its leaves curl up naturally, making it feel as if it has had its hair permed, but the planting method is still the same as for ordinary variegated spider plants and reverse-variegated spider plants. When planting, apply plenty of base fertilizer, and be sure to use rotted organic fertilizer, chicken manure fertilizer and so on. Before planting, sun the soil to disinfect it.

Propagation method

Directly cut off the runners with small white aerial roots. Autumn is the best time for cuttings now. Prepare a small flower pot and bury the aerial roots in the soil.

Water once every two or three days to keep the potting soil moist, and within ten days they will have taken root and survived. The roots will grow fuller and fuller, and tender new leaves and small leaves will also grow out. You can propagate as many pots as you want.

Shade it slightly in summer, and in autumn just place it outdoors to grow, and it will grow more lushly; getting it to fill a pot is very easy. In winter, just put it indoors to overwinter.

Heartleaf ice plant

It is different from other spider plants, because other spider plants can basically adapt to a diffused-light environment, but it likes plenty of light. Apart from summer, when strong light is unsuitable to avoid scorching the leaves, at other times it needs more sun. But its roots are fleshy roots, so although the potting soil should be kept moist, it must not be watered too much, to avoid waterlogging and root rot.

Cutting method

Propagating the heartleaf ice plant is very simple. You can put the stems cut off during pruning directly into water, toss them into a glass bottle and let them soak in water, and they will grow roots and survive.

You can also insert cuttings into airy, loose peat and vermiculite, keep a certain humidity, and place them under diffused light, and they will grow roots in just over ten days.

Frequently pinch off the growing tips to encourage more branches to grow, and water with fertilizer solution during the growing season, and you can easily grow it until it fills the pot.

Goldfish plant

Also called kangaroo flower or hanging goldfish, its flower shape is very cute and distinctive, and its colors are also bright and vivid. When caring for the goldfish plant normally, the potting soil is key. If you have peat at home, you can use peat, leaf mold, river sand or vermiculite to grow it, adding a bit more peat and some sand the size of soybeans to make the potting soil more airy.

Cutting method

The goldfish plant can be propagated by cuttings in all four seasons, and spring and autumn are especially suitable. Cut a 10 cm long one-year-old stem, leave three or four leaves, and insert the cutting into soil rich in humus with good drainage.

Insert the cutting to a depth of 2 cm. As long as the temperature is around 20 degrees, it will root in just over ten days, and in a month the root system will have grown well and it can be transplanted into a pot.

Repot once every spring or autumn, adding some base fertilizer; chicken manure or bean cake fertilizer are both fine. Then it will grow thick stems and strong leaves and bloom abundantly.
