Emei Township, with its lakes and mountains, has exceptional natural conditions, and the Dongfang Meiren grown there has a wonderful fragrance and is famous for its amber-colored tea liquor. The Emei Township Farmers' Association, the production and marketing group, and the Emei Township Office jointly held the "Emei Township Dongfang Meiren Tea Experience Event" for two consecutive days (10/6-10/7) at Xinhua Tea Garden beside Emei Lake. People came from Keelung in the north to Kaohsiung in the south, and even friends from Hong Kong, China came specially after hearing about it to learn tea-making and taste the tea's aroma. A total of 80 people signed up for this event. Hsinchu County Magistrate Chiu Ching-chun hoped that through learning the tea-making process, people would understand the hardship of tea farmers in making tea and the preciousness of Dongfang Meiren tea.

The main production areas of Dongfang Meiren tea are in Emei Township and Beipu in Hsinchu. What makes Dongfang Meiren tea special is that the insect known as the small green leafhopper bites the tea leaves; tea made from such leaves carries a special honey-fruit aroma and is deeply loved by tea lovers. Magistrate Chiu Ching-chun said that people from all over the country are welcome to visit Emei Township in Hsinchu County to drink Dongfang Meiren tea, eat tankan oranges, and also take a light trip to visit Shihliao Scenic Area and the Emei Lake Lakeside Trail to experience the Hakka village atmosphere of the Romantic Route 3.

Principal Fan Chih-chiang of Fuxing Elementary School, which has worked tirelessly to teach local culture, also brought 5 students to participate in the tea-making experience camp. He said that the children can learn quite a lot, from sampling in the tea garden, bringing it back to dry the tea, roast the tea, and knead the tea, experiencing the hardship of tea farmers making tea and feeling gratitude for the tea farmers' hard work. After returning to school, there are also tea ceremony courses, allowing students to learn character education and promote local culture. He especially thanked Township Mayor Jiang, Director-General Guo, and the colleagues of the Emei Township Farmers' Association for giving the children of Fuxing Elementary School an opportunity to learn.
