More and more people are growing flowers these days, and there is a reason for it after all - keeping a few pots of plants and flowers at home can both make the home environment fresh and airy and exercise your own hands-on skills, so this kind of good thing is of course all the better the more of it there is. Right now it is autumn, and flower growing has entered a peak season.

Autumn is not as muggy as summer nor as cold as winter, so it is a great season for growing flowers. Moreover, in autumn many flowering plants enter their growing period, and if you care for them attentively at this time, their growth rate and flower count will surely improve quite a bit. In fact, there are plenty of little things right by the roadside that are perfect for flower growing - pick them up and use them for your flowers, and every one of them will love growing into a bursting pot!

1. Pine cones

Pine cones are the fruits of the pine trees we commonly see. In autumn the pine cones slowly dry out and then fall to the ground. Even though pine cones are everywhere, using them as a layer at the bottom of a flower pot really works well for growing flowers. Because pine cones are hard in texture, they can create good loosening at the bottom of the pot, letting the soil breathe better, so the flower roots will naturally grow stronger and stronger.

When we use pine cones, it is best to first put them in a disinfecting solution to sterilize them, then dry them in the sun. Once disinfected, the pine cones will not cause any damage to the flower roots. The next step is to lay the pine cones neatly at the bottom of the flower pot, and finally add soil, and that is done. With pine cones in the soil, drainage is greatly enhanced, and root rot will be reduced.

2. Fallen leaves

What autumn never lacks is probably fallen leaves. Whether you are walking along the roadside or in a neighborhood park, almost all the trees are dropping leaves. At this time we can collect the fallen leaves and make them into leaf mold to use the following spring - you should know that many plants love to grow in leaf mold.

The method for making leaf mold is fairly simple. First we spread the collected fallen leaves in the sun for a week, which removes bacteria and pests inside. Next we find a clean container, then add them in layers - one layer of leaves, one layer of soil - and finally seal the top with soil. After setting it up this way, water it, cover it with plastic wrap, and put it in a cool place to ferment. By next spring the fermentation time will be long enough, and it will be just right to use.

3. Bricks

I never thought the inconspicuous bricks by the roadside could also be used for growing flowers. Because bricks are made by firing, they contain a large amount of iron and nutrients. Using them to grow flowers can supplement the nutrients flowering plants need during growth, so sprouting and blooming will no longer be a problem.

Bricks are used the same way as pine cones - both are placed as a layer at the bottom of the flower pot. When using them, we need to break them into small pieces, which makes them easier to put into the pot. After putting them in, just cover them with soil and they are ready for growing flowers. Bricks are fairly hard and can likewise enhance air permeability and drainage.

The 3 things Huahua mentioned above are all things you can see everywhere by the roadside in autumn. Next time you see them, remember to pick some up - the effect for growing flowers is just excellent!
