During the National Day holiday, many people are off work, right? At this time you finally have plenty of time to wander around the flower market. When it comes to growing flowers, there are many rules and many details, so some small problems are easy to overlook. Besides watering, fertilizing and light, nutrient soil is also crucial. There is one question I don't know whether flower lovers have noticed. That is, when you buy flowers from the flower market, I believe most of them come with a pot and soil. Do such potted flowers need a soil change and a pot change? Can the soil inside be replaced with nutrient soil you mix yourself?

For newly bought flowers, should the soil be replaced with your own? Many people don't know, no wonder the flowers wither and die

On the matter of changing soil, most flower lovers choose not to change it. They generally believe that for newly bought flowers, you must never change the soil, because they die as soon as you do. Of course, some people think the soil that comes with flowers from the flower market is unreliable in nutrients, so they simply change it to new soil themselves. Actually, neither of these two views can be called right or wrong. The key depends on the potted flower itself. If the soil in the pot was changed by the flower vendor and it hasn't been long since the change, then there is no need to go through the trouble yourself again. Changing the pot and soil is like major surgery, with too many rules; one moment of carelessness and the plant withers and dies. If the soil in the pot that came with it looks dry and nutrient-poor, and when you poke it with a bamboo stick it is very hard inside, then after buying it home you must change the soil.

If you change the soil for flowers, what rules are there exactly

As just said, changing soil for flowers is like major surgery, a big project. So there is quite a bit of knowledge involved. First is the timing of the soil change. Generally the timing is determined from two aspects. One is the season. We all know that summer and winter are two extreme seasons, either too hot or too cold, and at these times most flowers are dormant and grow slowly, so they are not suitable for a soil or pot change. Spring and autumn are the peak growing seasons for flowers, so they are more suitable. The second is the aspect of buying flowers. For flowers just bought home, it is not recommended to change the soil or pot immediately. I believe everyone has been to a flower market; those places are all greenhouses, and the growing environment for flowers there is very suitable. But after you take them home, the ambient temperature has changed, and the flowers need a period of time to adapt and recover, otherwise a change will surely kill them. Therefore it is recommended that flowers just bought home be cared for for at least half a month before touching the soil.

How should nutrient soil for flowers be made to be more fertile and nutritious

On this knowledge, Potted Plant Stack has already talked many times. Almost all flowers like to grow in an environment that is loose, fertile and contains a large amount of humus. So we also have to make nutrient soil according to this. The operation is not hard either. Prepare some organic fertilizers such as leaf mold, pine needles, and manure that has been sun-dried, or crushed eggshells, then mix in some ordinary garden soil, and with this blend it is done! If you are growing the orchid family, the growing medium is best with a bit more wood chips.
