Shopping at the flower market during National Day: no matter how pretty these 3 kinds of flowers look, don't buy them - they won't survive at home

Shopping at the flower market during "National Day": beware of 3 kinds of flowers. No matter how pretty they look, don't buy them - they won't survive when you get them home
Growing flowers has become part of many people's lives. Many friends around me place all kinds of plants and flowers in their homes and offices, which makes the home more lively and natural. Especially now that it is autumn, the weather is cool, and it is suitable for growing all kinds of flowers.
So many friends who love growing flowers may take advantage of the holiday to go look at flowers at the flower market. In autumn, you can buy Christmas cactus, clivia, orchids, narcissus and hyacinths at the flower market, because if you buy these flowers now and care for them carefully, they will bloom beautifully in winter. But when buying flowers at the flower market, everyone must be careful: never buy these 3 kinds of flowers, because they are all treated flowers, and it is very hard to keep them alive after you take them home.
1. Do not buy flowers with "glossy dark green" leaves
Many flowers now only reach the flower market after long-distance transport, so before these flowers are sold, the sellers spray their leaves with a brightening agent. This is an oily substance; sprayed on the leaf surface of a plant, it makes the leaves emerald green and shiny, and the whole plant looks very robust and full of texture. But after this brightening agent is sprayed, it easily clogs the stomata of the plant's leaves and greatly hinders the plant's photosynthesis and growth. This is especially true for foliage plants such as clivia, pothos and Radermachera sinica, whose leaves are often sprayed with brightening agent. So when you come across such plants, don't buy them. But some friends will ask: how can you tell that these plants have been sprayed with a brightening agent?
Telling whether plant leaves have been sprayed with a brightening agent
For a plant that has been sprayed with a brightening agent, its leaves are first of all glossy dark green and shiny. When you see a plant like this, you can smell the leaves. If there is a smell of paint, then it has definitely been sprayed with a brightening agent.
2. Do not buy potted plants that have just been repotted
Many flowers at the flower market now arrive after long-distance transport, so when the sellers grow them, they simply plant them in seedling pots. Only when the flowers are put up for sale do the shopkeepers repot them and change the soil, and sometimes they are even just temporarily planted in a new pot. So when buying potted plants, you must observe the potted flowers: whether the plant has just been temporarily planted, or whether the soil in the pot of a plant that has just been repotted and had its soil changed is suitable for the plant's growth. If there is only river sand or garden soil, such a potted plant will soon die after you take it home.
3. Do not buy chemically variegated succulents
Succulents have been very popular potted plants in recent years. Many flower lovers like to grow some succulent pots because they are very cute. Of course, in the past year or two, a kind of chemically variegated succulent has also become trendy: the color of the leaves in the middle is bright and different from that at the edges. Generally, when the leaf color of a succulent is different, it means it is in a variegated state, and variegation is very rare for succulents. Therefore, variegated succulents also cost more, so many sellers spray succulents with chemicals to turn them into chemically variegated succulents. Spraying succulents with chemicals is actually a kind of damage to the plant tissue. Generally, chemically treated succulents will show dried, fallen leaves and die within a month. The pretty leaves will eventually fall off, so when you come across chemically variegated succulents, try not to buy them.
When you come across these 3 kinds of plants at the flower market, try not to buy them. When buying flowers, pay attention and observe more so you don't get cheated. Finally, I wish everyone a happy National Day!
