If you don't place some flowering potted plants in your living room, it always feels like something is missing, giving a sense of emptiness. But which flowers to keep in the living room is a problem that troubles many friends, not only because of considering the air-purifying effect, but also considering the aesthetic effect. When choosing potted plants to place in the living room, the point is simply that they look good. Below, I will introduce 3 kinds of flowers to friends; keeping them in the living room gives a "grand" look, they can grow 2 meters tall, and guests and relatives all praise them!

The first potted plant: Monstera deliciosa (split-leaf philodendron). This counts as a relatively large flowering potted plant, often called the "big guy." Kept in the living room, it looks very grand, and it is also relatively easy to grow. Monstera deliciosa likes a warm and humid environment and is a shade-tolerant plant. Indoors, it can overwinter as long as the temperature is kept above 5°C. As a potted plant, it can be kept year-round indoors in a bright spot with scattered light. If it is kept outdoors on a north-facing balcony or under a corridor during the spring and autumn rainy seasons, its growth will be even more vigorous.

Monstera deliciosa has a well-developed root system and strong absorption capacity. In addition to using a culture soil made by mixing leaf mold, garden soil, and river sand at 1/3 each when potting and adding a small amount of bone meal and rotten soybean cake residue as base fertilizer, during the growing period its demand for fertilizer is greater than that of generally common potted plants. Monstera deliciosa grows relatively quickly, so it is best to repot it once every spring. When caring for it outdoors, in northern regions it should be brought indoors in early October and placed where it does not receive direct strong light at noon, to prevent cold wind from blowing directly on it; otherwise, the leaves are prone to turning yellow and dropping.

The second potted plant: Euphorbia tirucalli (dragon-bone flower). It is a very easy-care flower and belongs to the lazy-person plants, meaning it is very easy to keep alive. Euphorbia tirucalli belongs to the family Euphorbiaceae, genus Euphorbiasucculentplant. Euphorbia tirucalli grows robustly and can reach 2 to 3 meters in height. Euphorbia tirucalli is not cold-tolerant, and the overwintering temperature should be controlled at around 10 degrees. To prevent Euphorbia tirucalli from rotting in winter, it needs to be placed in a sunny spot to get more sunlight, and the pot should be turned at certain intervals. Euphorbia tirucalli is not strict about soil and can grow well in ordinary culture soil.

The third potted plant: Sansevieria trifasciata (snake plant). Like most green plants, Sansevieria trifasciata also has a good purifying effect. Placing it at home, besides having an ornamental effect, it can also absorb harmful substances such as formaldehyde indoors and reduce the harm to family members. Sansevieria trifasciata is what we often call tiger-tail sansevieria; they are the same kind of flower.

For Sansevieria trifasciata during the growing period, watering should follow the principle of preferring dry over wet. In spring, when new shoots sprout at the root crown, water appropriately more to keep the potting soil moist. In the rainy season, never let water accumulate in the pot. Usually, you can wipe dust off the leaf surface with clean water to keep the leaves clean and shiny. Generally speaking, if the soil is relatively loose, water twice a week; in winter when the weather is colder, watering once is enough.
