Around Mid-Autumn Festival is exactly the peak growing season for roses. The temperature at this time is not as hot as the earlier "autumn tiger" heat. The weather is cool, but it does not feel cold either. The peak growing seasons for roses are spring and autumn. Many flower lovers have planted one or two pots of roses at home. At this time, whether you are rooting new rose cuttings or caring for roses that have already grown buds, if you want the roses to bloom more, you can do these three "little things" more often, and the flowers will keep bursting out. Then you can enjoy the moon and the roses at home.

The first "little thing": one cut brings new life

When growing roses, you must pay attention to pruning. After going through summer, with continued high temperatures, and then the "autumn tiger" stage, pests and diseases are very likely to appear. The branches of roses will be slightly damaged. At this time, prune the branches where pests and diseases appear, as in my photo. Cut the thin branches, weak branches, and diseased branches at a 45-degree slant.

Besides these branches, spent flowers can also be pruned, because if spent flowers remain on the plant, even after they have finished blooming they will still consume nutrients and affect the amount of later blooms. Cut at the point 3 to 4 leaves below the flower, 1 cm from the bud eye. Some very small buds can also be pruned first; if they are too thin and weak, the flowers will not look good even if they bloom. Prune them in time to encourage rapid growth of new large buds. When pruning roses, you must be willing to cut, so that nutrients are concentrated in the main branches. Only in this way can nutrients be concentrated to support later rose flowering and bud growth.

The second "little thing": repair well, and feed correctly

After pruning roses, you can prepare to add a little nutrition for recovery. Under the high temperatures of summer, roses grow relatively slowly. In hot weather, it is also not suitable to use fertilizer, as it will cause roses to grow leggy branches and make them less likely to bloom in autumn. After pruning, we can use a special organic nutrient solution for roses to promote strong roots and thicker branches. You can also use homemade organic soybean nitrogen fertilizer, pour it in a circle along the flower pot, and bury soybean grains in the pot. Let the roses sprout high-quality new shoots, and the leaves will also become lush green. When repairing roses, you must feed them correctly. This also lays a foundation for later flowering.

The third "little thing": supplement before flowering, and the flowers will burst into bloom

Roses like fertilizer. During the growing period and flowering period, they need a large amount of fertilizer supplementation. If nutrients are insufficient, the rose branches will be thin and weak, and they will bloom very little or not at all. If you want roses to burst into bloom, you need to give them a big supplement before the flowering period. Use high-quality phosphorus fertilizer for roses, so as to promote more new flower buds. For phosphorus fertilizer, you can use a special flowering nutrient solution for roses, or you can use homemade fruit peel fertilizer. When using it, the nutrient solution concentration is relatively high, so remember to dilute it. Do not pour it directly on the roots. After dilution, pour it in a circle along the flower pot. Before the flowering period, water it once every week, applying thin fertilizer frequently.

It takes about 55 days for roses to go from flower bud formation to blooming. Miniature roses will take slightly less time, so if you want to enjoy beautiful roses, you need to start supplementing them at this time. By October, you can enjoy roses in full bloom. When growing roses in autumn, do these three little things more often, and the branches will be thick and strong, with twice as many flowers.
