As golden autumn October arrives, the whole nation celebrates together. I wish our great motherland even greater prosperity and strength, and I wish our many succulent-loving friends' succulents ever more beautiful and ever more numerous. It is because of our great motherland that we have today's happy life. To celebrate the 69th anniversary of the founding of our motherland, today I specially make a documentary record of this unforgettable moment for my succulents.
Today is a good day. The breeze is gentle and the sunlight is just right, very suitable for photographing the succulents. With a path in the heart and a dream beneath the feet, on the first day of the October Golden Week, travelers are watching car scenery and crowds on the highways, while I, a succulent lover, stay home watching succulent scenery, and fantasize about whether one day I will fall and become a greenhouse owner... uh, I am overthinking it...
Not good at writing, I never thought I would write realistic records for them, because since childhood I thought, can something as headache-inducing as essay writing be ghostwritten by someone else? However, there really is such a thing... haha, dear, you are drifting off topic! Come back quickly.
Before April, my interest in succulents was still just average, and I only had a few succulents at home. Heh heh, that's right, through an accidental opportunity, I visited a succulent greenhouse once, and from then on there was no stopping it, rapidly growing to about one hundred pots. To popularize succulent knowledge, one day I had a sudden idea: are there any succulent public accounts on WeChat? After searching randomly and following them, from then on, among the many public accounts, Succulent Plant Encyclopedia became a must-read before I sleep. It has every kind of succulent-growing experience from all the masters, and even a succulent beginner can become a great immortal. The secret of why my beginner succulents suffered so little damage through the summer should be in there!
It is rare to have time today to tinker around. Although I still received a few company calls early in the morning, it did not affect my mood for fussing over the succulents at all. In the morning I was busy photographing the succulents, from about 9 in the morning until nearly 1 in the afternoon. I did not cook either, and quickly cooked rice. The beloved one in my family was also busy tinkering with his "meat," and the big one and the little one were both so busy at home that they did not even want to eat.
Now my husband has taken the big "meat" out to watch a movie, leaving me alone to continue writing the succulent story. I will make a cup of afternoon tea, please listen as I tell it in detail.
Without further nonsense, the dishes are served, you can start eating. The succulents I kept before 2018: I was completely a succulent beginner in growing succulents. Mm hm, the word "beginner" is so annoying; it immediately makes me think of little Jack. Many succulents were destroyed by it. Many went to succulent heaven because of it, and only these remain:
Hongzhilian (Echeveria 'Red Ebony'): at first I did not understand anything about sunlight, ventilation, water control and so on, and it just grew long legs:
Lujiao Haitang (Carpobrotus chilensis): a tiny seedling grew into a small old stem
Lujiao Haitang (Carpobrotus chilensis): very easy to grow
Yulu (Haworthia cooperi) has always been grown in garden soil, the most suitable subject for beginners to cultivate.
I heard that Yulu must be photographed against the light to capture her translucent beauty
Grown lazily, Zixuanyue went wild
Dongmeiren (Echeveria pulidonis): beheaded from a 9-year-old old stem at the company uncle's place
Dongmeiren (Echeveria pulidonis) grown from leaf cuttings on the stem. Leaf cuttings are very magical; I cultivated many plants and also gave some away.
Dongmeiren (Echeveria pulidonis) double-headed from leaf cuttings, and there were also 3-headed ones; I will not post pictures of them one by one
Marcus, this shape looks like a monkey fishing for the moon
In summer it accidentally got its head knocked off
Marcus, with sunlight it shines brilliantly; it also had a few heads knocked off
After falling into the pit, I had the idea of raising succulents with succulents, not wanting to fall completely into the pit. Uh, I want to thank the people who first bought my succulents. Perhaps your succulents have already gone to succulent heaven. It does not matter. Before becoming a great master or great immortal, it is very normal to have lost however many pots, otherwise you cannot sum up succulent-growing insights. If I am wrong, do not flame me ^^.
When I first fell into the pit, I made a whole batch of mixed arrangements, as if possessed, and every day after work I could arrange them until one in the morning before sleeping. Those former ones are now making wedding clothes for others.
Here is one of my classic mixed arrangements, made at a girl's request. She is a beginner on the road; although it looks beautiful, growing it is not easy. I heard it has already been completely ruined.
A batch of mixed arrangements, all made by staying up late every day
Guanyinlian (Sempervivum tectorum)
The succulents that have gone to succulent heaven, their former beautiful figures
Debbie: went to succulent heaven before dawn arrived (after autumn began, the roots were gnawed and damaged by little Jack, and after contact with water the roots began to rot black. Fortunately it left pups, looking forward to their growth...)
Jelly Nüxin (Sedum pachyphyllum 'Jelly Bean'), Jack the swordsman
And so on. This summer, the roasting-hot days in the free-shipping area, plus the devastation of Jack and the lycaenid butterflies, were very hard for succulents to endure. Placed on the south-facing security window, I did not even pull up a shade net, and the surviving ones were all excellent tough succulents.
Shubing (Sedum 'Tree Ice'), the ugliest 2 plants left before summer began. The whole summer they were placed on the north balcony, and before I knew it they became slim and graceful
Jilongyue (Graptopetalum paraguayense), did not escape Jack's palm. Not afraid, I have Huahuashen
The mother plant Yuyanzuo (Echeveria 'Rainbow'), beautiful, looking forward to an even more beautiful moment
Xiaomixing (Sedum 'Little Star') bursting out of the pot, really tough
Is it a beauty or a cheese?
Who is this? Green cabbage
Here is a newly acquired look, beautiful.
Fashi (Aeonium), I do not know whether it is Shaoxiu.
Snow White seems to have sooty mold.
There are still some I will not post one by one. I really want to upload them all at once... then let's leave some suspense.
A new batch of succulents acquired in early September
Colorful crayons
Halloween?
Nüxin (Sedum pachyphyllum)
Allen
Green Bear, tonight let it grow fat
Sasha Queen
TP
This Yulu must have been tortured into this
Aopu, spread out like a big pancake
Blue Bird
Dongyun, just planted, feels like it will not live long, the leaves look like they are about to rot
Baifeng, feels so ethereal
The big succulent in our family is tinkering with his little succulent, and will not stop until it is completely ruined.
Uh, as a balcony and windowsill person, once there are many succulents I think: the top floor across the way, your big open terrace is empty, can you lend it to me? If I had known I would grow so many succulents, when I bought the house I would have borrowed money to buy the top floor... sunlight, terrace... haha, overthinking it.
Summary: if you treat them with care, you will surely harvest a scene of brilliant colors.
During the National Day short holiday, I wish all succulent friends, great masters and great immortals a happy holiday!
