Every kind of flower is an individual, and each has its own growing preferences; their requirements for sunlight, water, temperature, soil and so on are all different. Temperature in particular is one of the most important conditions for flower growth; it is a living habit that flowers develop after adapting to their surroundings over the long term. Different flowers have different temperature requirements, and even the same flower will have different temperature requirements because of the different demands of each growth stage.

The temperature that brings a flower to its best growing state is the temperature that suits it best, and this most suitable temperature also has a certain range: from the lowest temperature to the highest temperature, the flower can grow normally, but once it drops below the lowest temperature or rises above the highest temperature, the flower risks dying. Most flowers on the market are suited to growing in an environment of 3 to 30 degrees; within this survivable range, flowers speed up their growth as the temperature gradually rises, and when the most suitable temperature is reached, the flower bursts out with its most spectacular moment of the year, but if the temperature keeps rising, the flower will stop growing.

Based on these different temperature needs, flowers are generally divided into four types. The first is heat-tolerant flowers; they like places with high temperatures, such as tropical regions, and having long been in a high-temperature environment, they have developed heat tolerance. Their suitable temperature is therefore higher than that of ordinary flowers, generally around 15 to 30 degrees, and some can even reach 40 degrees. Representative flowers of this type include dragon tree and cockscomb.

The second is moderate-temperature flowers; their heat tolerance is slightly lower than that of heat-tolerant flowers, generally around 5 to 10 degrees, and they usually grow fastest in spring and autumn. Representative flowers of this type include aloe, asparagus fern, spider plant and begonia.

The third is low-temperature flowers; their suitable temperature is a little lower than that of moderate-temperature flowers, roughly 0 to 5 degrees. Their places of origin are generally in the colder northern parts of subtropical regions, and representative flowers include azalea and Chinese fan palm.

The fourth is cold-resistant flowers; their most suitable growing temperature is even lower than that of low-temperature flowers, generally below 0 degrees. Most flowers of this type come from temperate regions, and they are very well suited to surviving in the open air, and even getting through winter poses no problem at all. The main representatives of this cold-resistant type include crape myrtle, pomegranate and tree peony.

Now everyone knows which flowers are suited to growing in low-temperature environments and which are suited to growing in high-temperature environments, right? As long as you find the right growing temperature for them, you can grow the most beautiful flowers.
