Orchid leaves "tip burn": adjust these 2 things and in January new shoots will sprout like crazy, with lush green leaves
The orchid is a very elegant and beautiful potted plant, with emerald green leaves and fragrant flowers. It is a green plant potted plant loved by many scholars and writers. Many people think the orchid is a difficult flower to grow, and of course the facts also prove that many people encounter all kinds of problems when growing orchids, such as yellow leaves, scorched and withered leaf tips, and root rot.
To grow orchids well, you naturally need to master some small care tips, just like what I am sharing with you today. During daily care, orchids are prone to scorched and withered leaf tips. When leaf tips become scorched, there are generally two causes, which I will share with you in detail below.
Orchid root rot or malnutrition
If the orchid's roots rot or the soil in the pot is poor, the plant's roots cannot absorb enough nutrients, and some cannot deliver enough nutrients to the leaves. The leaf tips are the place farthest from the roots, so they are the first to show the problem, and the orchid's leaf tips become scorched and withered.
Solution
When an orchid's leaf tips become scorched and yellow, you first need to check the orchid's roots. If the roots have rotted or the soil is poor, you should repot it and change the soil in time. Generally, choose 1 part fully fermented peanut shell soil, 1 part humus soil, and 1 part garden soil for the orchid. After thorough mixing, using it to grow orchids is not only loose and breathable, but also nutrient-rich. After taking the orchid out of the pot, loosen the roots, prune off the old roots and rotten roots, let it dry in a shady place for 1 day, then repot it with soil and replant it. Place the repotted plant in a shady place for 1 week, and the orchid will adjust to the pot. After that, just care for it normally.
Dry air
Another cause of scorched and withered orchid leaf tips is that the growing environment is too dry. Especially in the north, where the air is dry, the leaves of flowers have a high transpiration rate, so the leaf tips naturally become dehydrated, and orchid leaf tips become scorched and withered.
Solution
In this situation, you can place the potted orchid on an indoor flower stand with good light and ventilation, then put a basin of clean water under the flower stand. After the clean water evaporates, it can increase the humidity of the orchid's growing environment. You can also spray the orchid leaves with water once every 2-3 days. This can effectively increase the humidity for the orchid leaves and avoid scorching and withering. Of course, some flower lovers also put a humidifier indoors.
When growing orchids, do not place the pot in direct sunlight or under scorching sun, otherwise the leaves can easily turn yellow. Generally, it is best to place it indoors with ventilation and scattered light. Then increase the humidity of the plant's growing environment, and water only when the soil is dry and stop when it is wet. The orchid can then grow healthily. If the orchid at home has scorched tips, you can improve it with these two methods. With normal care, it will grow new leaves.
