Actually, life is full of surprises everywhere. Learn to discover the beauty of life and treat every living thing with kindness, and you will often receive unexpected surprises.

Gardeners who grow roses know that every winter roses need heavy pruning, cut back until only a few buds remain. For climbing roses, all the thin branches must be cut off, leaving only the branches that can bloom, so there are a great many cuttings.

Many gardeners take those branches and use them for cuttings. Lanyao often does this too. Looking at a pile of rose branches, it always feels like a waste to throw them away, so I just stick them in the ground.

Winter is really an excellent time for rooting rose cuttings. Although there is no activity all winter long, they sprout in spring and then grow like crazy, impossible to stop.

Actually, if we give these casually stuck rose cuttings just a little care, they will bring you plenty of surprises too.

The Rosa 'Parade' (climbing rose) that Lanyao casually stuck in the soil during winter, after it sprouted I moved it to the wall side, then buried some chicken manure fertilizer. Well now, it grew like crazy, and in one year it had grown into a large patch.

I nailed a wire mesh to the wall and fixed the branches to it. In spring it produced a whole wall of rose flowers, and passing neighbors all stopped to take photos.

Some people even asked me what flower this is, how to grow it, and whether they could cut a branch for themselves, and so on.

Rose cuttings are really so easy. Besides winter being good for rooting cuttings, autumn right now is also very suitable for taking cuttings. If you want to do it properly, you can use a small flower pot, mix peat moss and perlite at 1:1, cut the rose branches into pieces about 8cm each, insert them, water thoroughly, and place them in a spot with indirect light. Friends who like roses might as well give it a try!

If you want to see the detailed rose cutting method, you can look back at Lanyao's previous article on rose cuttings.
