For the seven-day National Day holiday, do you have any travel plans? Huahua is going to the flower market to splurge! Buying a few large plants to bring home as guardian plants - speaking of these large potted plants, many flower lovers have recently been reporting falling and yellowing leaves, so today, Huahua will talk about the issues we most need to pay attention to when caring for them!

Fiddle-leaf fig lacks light, leaves drop nonstop

1. Light

When we care for the fiddle-leaf fig, we must give it at least 4 hours of natural light every day. If it lacks light, the plant's leaves will be very small, and in severe cases they will turn black and drop.

If it is kept indoors all the time, it is best to supplement its light with a lamp so the fiddle-leaf fig can grow healthily.

2. Watering

Starting in late autumn, be careful not to water too much. Water only when the potting soil looks dry or feels cracked; if it feels moist, do not water even a drop. Watering only after the soil dries makes it less likely to cause root rot and death.

3. Ventilation

Be sure to pay attention to ventilation. If ventilation is poor, even though the soil surface looks dry, water easily accumulates at the bottom of the pot. It is best to place a layer of clay pebbles at the bottom of the pot~

Money tree watered too much, root rot is beyond saving

1. Watering

The large money trees we buy and bring home are mostly grown after the seller cuts off the original root system and regrows it. This kind of root system is not as thick and strong as the original roots and has poor water-absorbing ability. If too much water is given during care, root rot easily occurs.

So we must never water too frequently in normal care and keep to the principle of watering when dry and withholding when wet. If it is hard to control, you can insert a bamboo skewer into the soil; if the skewer comes out relatively wet, don't rush to water, and wait until it is a bit drier before watering.

2. Ventilation

For this kind of large plant, ventilation must be ensured. If the potting soil has standing water and the potted plant is in a well-ventilated environment, the water can quickly dissipate with the air circulation and root rot can be avoided.

Schefflera gets no light, leaves drop nonstop

1. Light

We should usually place the potted plant in a spot with plenty of scattered light. If the plant stays in a dark environment for a long time, it will not only grow poorly but also easily drop leaves.

2. Watering

Pay attention to watering: the soil should not be too wet or too dry. Water once the surface of the potting soil turns pale. Keep moisture relatively high during the growing season and reduce the amount of watering in winter.

3. Ventilation

A good ventilated environment can prevent the occurrence of pests and diseases. For example, Huahua's schefflera had black and sticky leaves a while ago. After a major pruning and giving it a good ventilated environment, it sprouted lots of new branches in a week!

Monstera watered too much, leaves turn yellow and leaf edges scorch

1. Light

Monstera does not have high light requirements; just avoid strong sunlight. In winter, for example, you can absolutely place the plant in full sunlight, which is even more beneficial for its growth~

2. Watering

As for watering, we should note: water after the soil surface dries, and water thoroughly when watering. If water accumulates in the potting soil, monstera leaves easily turn yellow.

If the plant's leaves turn yellow because of too much watering, we should stop watering immediately, cut off the yellow leaves, place the potted plant in a spot with good light and ventilation, and usually not water unless the soil is dry.

Alocasia lacks light, grows tall and lanky with small leaves

1. Light

When growing alocasia, if the light is too strong, the leaves easily wilt and the edges scorch; if the light is weak, the plant grows tall, the stems become thin and weak, and the leaves also become thinner and yellow.

We can usually place the potted plant in a spot with plenty of scattered light. In winter, when light is weak, full sunlight on a south-facing balcony is best.

2. Watering

Alocasia likes a moist growing environment. In daily care, it must not lack water; as soon as you see the soil surface dry, water thoroughly immediately. As the weather gradually turns cooler, if the indoor temperature is below 15°C, be careful to reduce the frequency of watering.
