Clivia has high ornamental value and is often kept as an indoor potted plant. Its flowering period is fairly long, reaching 30-50 days, blooming around New Year's Day through the Spring Festival, making it a common holiday flower. Clivia can make our homes look elegant and luxurious, and can also enrich and brighten our lives, adding splendor and beauty.

Clivia is a fairly easy-to-grow green plant, but growing it well takes some know-how. Below I'll share a few tips with you so we can care for clivia better.

1. Change the soil in spring

Limited by the flower pot, the soil nutrients in the pot get absorbed by the plant, and quite a bit of waste from the plant's metabolism also accumulates in the pot. So it's best to change the soil for your clivia every spring, giving it fresh nutrient soil, which lets the clivia grow more vigorously!

2. Wipe the leaves

Clivia has broad leaves and can trap dust to some extent, so dust often accumulates on the leaves, affecting photosynthesis. You can wipe the leaves regularly, which makes them look glossier. In particular, you can dilute beer and use it to wipe the leaves, which acts as a foliar feed and makes the leaves thicker and glossier green.

3. Base fertilizer

Clivia needs a lot of nutrients to bloom, so when potting up clivia, add some base fertilizer as appropriate. Before it blooms, it's best to give it some extra flower fertilizer, mainly phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, which is better for its blooming.

In addition, clivia prefers slightly acidic soil, so when watering you can add two drops of salt-free vinegar, which helps adjust the soil's pH. You can also water it with fermented rice-washing water, which provides plenty of nutrients for the clivia.
