Jasmine is a fairly common potted flowering plant in daily life, with pure white flowers and a rich fragrance, and it is deeply loved by people. During care, you may encounter the situation where the branches and leaves are vigorous but there are few flowers, mainly caused by improper fertilizing, insufficient light and temperature, and improper pruning. Let's take a look below!

(1) Jasmine likes fertilizer. During the growing season, it needs to continuously grow new branches and leaves and to form buds and bloom, so it has a high demand for nutrients and requires balanced nutrients. It not only needs more nitrogen fertilizer, but also phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. However, nitrogen fertilizer must not be applied too much, otherwise it will cause vigorous growth of branches and leaves and few flowers. When improper fertilizing causes vigorous growth, you can appropriately stop watering and fertilizing. You need to wait until the terminal buds wilt before watering again, which can promote nutrients to shift into the flower buds.

When fertilizing, to increase phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, it is best to first apply part of the phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. For daily fertilizing, you can use cake fertilizer and sesame paste residue, together with chicken manure and other materials rich in phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. It is recommended to best apply compound chemical fertilizer.

(2). Jasmine needs to satisfy an environment with sufficient sunlight and high temperature. It only forms buds when the temperature is above 25C, and the light rate is 60~70%. Long-term insufficient light will cause the leaves to grow vigorously and produce few flower buds. During the growth period, jasmine must be placed in a place with sufficient light and relatively high temperature for care.

(3). Jasmine pruning needs to be appropriate. If heavily pruned, it will cause too much growth of basal buds or soil-borne buds, leading to vigorous growth of branches and leaves and no visible flowers. When pruning jasmine in the growing season, do not prune new branches by more than 1/3. Soil-borne buds that need to be kept for renewal techniques should be topped as early as possible when they grow to about 20cm, which can promote new short branches. Generally, 3~4 pairs of leaves are enough to show buds and bloom.
