The first is succulent leaf cuttings. Autumn is the growing season for most succulents, and leaf-cutting propagation is relatively fast, with easy rooting and sprouting. Before National Day, temperatures in most regions have dropped, so you can choose leaf-cutting propagation. Collect the fallen leaves and scatter them like seeds, and you will have a bumper harvest the next year. If you are just starting out and want to try growing succulents from seed, it is also recommended to start with leaf cuttings and give up on sowing seeds. Leaf cuttings can hone your patience and your child's, and are a great way to improve concentration and observation skills. If you do not carefully observe and care for these little guys, they will not grow well!

For succulent leaf-cutting propagation, choosing the leaves is also very important. You need to pick fresh leaves, and note that freshly picked leaves need their wounds to dry, usually 1-3 days is enough. Many people also pick off the leaves and set them aside, waiting until they root before planting. The only drawback of this method is that if the leaves are left in the air too long they will naturally curl, especially some of the thinner ones, which will curl into a ball, and then it is very hard for them to root.

The second plant that can be propagated by leaf cuttings is the money tree (Zamioculcas zamiifolia). Money tree leaf cuttings are different from succulent leaf cuttings; strictly speaking, it is actually stem cutting. So how do you take money tree leaf cuttings? Take healthy branches, then cut them into single leaves or small sections of leaves and branches as shown in the picture below. Prepare nutrient soil; the standard mix is peat soil, perlite and river sand mixed in a 3:1:1 ratio to make the substrate. If you do not have peat soil, you can use garden soil; if you do not have perlite, you can use sawdust, or omit it; if you do not have river sand, you can use sand. The principle for mixing soil is simply that it is breathable, moisture-retaining and fertile; the ratio can be roughly right.

After potting and cutting the money tree, place it on the north side and just keep it moist. Every day, touch the soil with your hand; it is fine if it is moist, and water it when it is dry. Generally after about 2 months, the money tree leaves will grow new roots shaped like potatoes. By then it is not far from the time the plant grows new shoots. As for temperature, as long as you can keep the temperature above 20°C, money tree leaf cuttings can be done all year round, and they generally survive in 2 weeks.

The last plant is the kalanchoe (Kalanchoe blossfeldiana) leaf cutting. Kalanchoe is also one of the succulent plants. Because the small flowers that kalanchoe blooms are very cute, and the plant's name has a good meaning, many people like to give kalanchoe to relatives and friends. So everyone can learn how to take kalanchoe cuttings and give the kalanchoe they grew themselves to relatives and friends. It is quite meaningful, since after all you raised it from a small seedling, and just thinking about it is lovely.

For the leaf-cutting substrate, make sure the nutrient soil is soft enough, that is, loose and breathable. This not only helps drainage but also helps retain water. The growth condition of the leaves used for leaf cuttings plays a crucial role in the success of the leaf cuttings. It is recommended to choose vigorously growing leaves from mature plants for leaf cuttings. In terms of water management, you need to keep the potting soil moist often, and you can also spray water on the leaf surface to keep it moist, thereby increasing the survival rate of leaf cuttings.
