Right now the flower markets are full of potted plants in every variety imaginable, so many that they make your eyes spin. Just the other day, Huahua went to browse the flower market and saw lots of strange and unusual potted plants, and in the end even spotted reishi mushroom pots, with each reishi mushroom growing inside the pot - truly very tempting.

We all know that reishi mushrooms have always been expensive, not something ordinary people can easily afford - buying just one makes your wallet ache for ages. But there is a reason for the high price; after all, their nutritional value is very rich. Huahua asked the flower market owner and learned that this kind of reishi potted plant is actually edible, and the key point is that you can grow it at home too, for a cost of only 10 yuan!

Before growing reishi mushrooms, we first need to buy some reishi spawn. On the market today there are generally two types of spawn. One is spawn that has not yet grown a mushroom block, and the other is a spawn block that has already grown some caps. These two types suit people with different needs, so it depends on which one you want.

The reishi spawn block you buy looks like a small pillar. Before planting, we need to use a small knife to cut two slits in the spawn block - there is no fixed requirement for where these two slits go. Cutting the slits helps the reishi mushrooms emerge and grow afterward. We all know reishi mushrooms like to grow in damp environments, so we can use a towel or cling film to wrap the spawn and give it a suitable growing environment.

Next we need to put the wrapped reishi into the container we have prepared, and we can wrap another layer of bag around the outside of the container to ensure a second layer of moisture. After that we can put the wrapped reishi somewhere with indirect scattered light to let it grow. During the growing period we must always keep the reishi's environment moist, and we can regularly mist it with a spray bottle, which works quite well.

After about half a month of this, you will see one or two small reishi buds growing on top. Once the small reishi buds appear, we need to increase the amount of water we spray each day, so that by keeping the growing environment moist every day, the growth rate of the reishi pot will naturally speed up quite a bit. From sowing the spawn to about one month, we will see the reishi mushrooms reaching maturity. Once mature, the surface of the reishi is reddish-brown; pick them and use them as medicine or boil them in soup - both are good choices, and the nutritional value is very high.

Although this kind of reishi is not as expensive or as nutritious as wild reishi, its advantage is that it can be grown as a potted plant and is quite convenient to pick and use. Flower lovers who want to grow reishi can give it a try - once planted, it also looks quite decorative placed in the home. If you know of any other strange and unusual potted plants, you can leave a comment in the comment section and share with Huahua, and let Huahua broaden her horizons too!
