Fruit-bearing ornamental plants have beautiful and festive fruit, bloom and bear fruit year-round, and can even be made into bonsai

Introduction
Green plants and potted plants are essential decorative elements for home life. Keeping some flowers and plants at home has many benefits: it beautifies the room and pleases the mood. "Huasheng Potted Plant Diary, Issue 1325" introduces you to a most worthwhile fruit-bearing ornamental plant.
Today's featured plant
Ornamental plants are mainly divided into foliage plants, flowering plants, and fruit-bearing plants. The latter are relatively few and mostly appear during major festivals such as the Spring Festival, with kumquat as a representative. The plant introduced today is called Fugui Zi (Ardisia crenata). It has high ornamental value and a long ornamental period, and once won the highest award for fruit-bearing ornamental flowering plants in horticulture.
Fugui Zi
Fugui Zi, also called Zhu Sha Gen (Ardisia crenata) and Huang Jin Wan Liang, is a perennial evergreen small shrub in the family Primulaceae. It is distributed across many provinces in southern China. Its fruit is spherical, about the size of a pea, bright red and translucent when ripe, like strings of red pearls, shimmering with an auspicious and festive light of wealth. It is beautiful and festive, and is very popular among Chinese people. It is currently the fruit-bearing ornamental plant with sales in the flower market second only to kumquat.
Extra-long fruiting period
Unlike kumquat, which has only a spring ornamental period, Fugui Zi can be enjoyed year-round. The fruit set the previous year has not yet fallen, and the next year it can bloom and bear fruit again. A single tree can be enjoyed for its fruit 365 days a year. Blooming and fruiting take 3 months, and the remaining 9 months are the red-fruit period, covering major festivals such as New Year's Day and the Spring Festival. For its outstanding performance, it won the highest award for fruit-bearing ornamental flowering plants at the Kunming Expo and the Cross-Strait Flower Expo.
Easy to cultivate
Fugui Zi is native to southern China and is well adapted to China's geographical and climatic environment. It is a semi-shade plant that can also be grown indoors and is very suitable for potting. It likes loose soil and a growing environment with good ventilation and short-day conditions. It likes water; when it is dry, frequently mist the leaves to keep it in better condition. It is easier to grow than kumquat.
Excellent bonsai material
Fugui Zi is evergreen in all four seasons and has a graceful tree shape. When it blooms, it also has waves of fragrance. Its red fruit grows in clusters, and green leaves paired with red fruit are dazzling and eye-catching. It has a long ornamental period, grows quickly, branches abundantly, and tolerates pruning. It is also an important bonsai tree material and a rare fine potted plant.
