What is the Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival?

On June 21, 2018, the State Council's approval on agreeing to establish the "Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival" was released, agreeing that starting from 2018, the autumnal equinox on the lunar calendar each year will be established as the "Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival."

The "Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival" is the first festival established specifically for farmers at the national level, containing distinctive cultural symbols and new contemporary connotations, helping to awaken people's memories of traditional farming culture and gather tremendous strength for comprehensively implementing the rural revitalization strategy and accelerating the modernization of agriculture and rural areas.

"First of all, agricultural products can achieve high quality and good prices. It was learned from the Wuhan Agricultural Comprehensive Law Enforcement Detachment that the Yangtze River Wuhan section stock enhancement and release activity, held for 17 consecutive years, was selected as one of this year's Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival series activities.

According to Qu Dongyu, among the more than 100 series activities of the first "Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival," there arethe Yangtze River Wuhan section stock enhancement and release activity held in Wuhan and the National Breeding Pig Competition(Southern Division).

△In 2017, the winter artificial stock enhancement and release activity ceremony for the Yangtze River basin Wuhan section was held at the Wuhan Fishery Administration Pier

It is reported that the stock enhancement and release activity to be held on September 23 will add the Chinese sturgeon, a national first-class key protected wild animal known as the "giant panda in the water" and a living fossil. This is the third time Chinese sturgeon have been released into the Yangtze River Wuhan section since the Ministry of Agriculture implemented the Yangtze River fishing ban period system in 2003.

Xiang Jun, a relevant person in charge of the Municipal Agricultural Comprehensive Law Enforcement Detachment, introduced that since Wuhan implemented stock enhancement and release activities, 10,000 juvenile Chinese sturgeon were released at Hankou River Beach in 2004, and 10 adult Chinese sturgeon and 1,000 juvenile Chinese sturgeon were released in 2017. The number of Chinese sturgeon released in this stock enhancement and release may be the largest scale ever. In addition, Chinese sucker fish and the "four major Chinese carps" (black carp, grass carp, silver carp, and bighead carp) will also be released.

National Breeding Pig Competition

The National Breeding Pig Competition will measure 231 breeding pigs, and select the top five in comprehensive index and top three in appearance evaluation for Large White breeding pigs, Landrace breeding pigs, and Duroc breeding pigs respectively.

In addition, artistic performances, breeding pig auctions, pork food festivals, and other activities will also be held.
