Everyone who grows flowers dreams of having a big garden. Living in the city, having a ground-level or rooftop garden is simply wonderful. Never mind the rooftop, the light up there is plentiful. As for the ground level, if the house faces the wrong way, light really is a big problem. Sometimes getting 2-4 hours of light a day is already good. Not to mention that it is now early autumn, and a first floor that already did not get great light now gets even worse light. Take Qiu Ma's home for example. There is a little space outside the balcony where flowers can be planted, but unfortunately the light really is too poor, so one can only choose flowers like hydrangeas that do not need particularly strong light.

But let's not digress. Back to today's topic: if the light at home is poor and you want to grow flowers, what should you choose? Today Qiu Ma, drawing on past flower-growing experience, will share some plants that do not demand especially strong light and are afraid of strong sun, as a reference for everyone.

1. Anthurium

Anthurium likes a semi-shaded environment and is especially afraid of direct sunlight, which very easily scorches the leaves. Under normal circumstances, anthurium can be grown very well indoors in a ventilated spot with diffused light. But note that after winter arrives, anthurium is afraid of freezing, so watch out for cold damage. It is best to keep the indoor temperature at around 15°C.

2. Calla lily

One of the more seasonal varieties at this time of year. The colored calla lily varieties available now are very beautiful. During care, keep the potting soil slightly moist. When in bloom, place it in a spot with diffused light, which can make the colors even more beautiful.

3. Asparagus fern

Besides some flowering plants, our foliage plants, such as asparagus fern, are also very suitable for indoor care. Harsh sun tends to yellow the leaves. Grow it in a ventilated indoor spot; ventilation is very important. Keep a little scattered light, keep the potting soil on the dry side, do not let it get too moist, and mist the leaves more in summer, which can make asparagus fern leaves even more verdant.

4. Ivy

When the temperature drops and you want to purify the air, pothos is a bit intolerant of low temperatures, so ivy is a good choice. It not only has a certain cold resistance, but also does not demand very strong light. It is afraid of heat and afraid of strong sun, making it a very suitable air-purifying plant for autumn and winter care.

The four plants above are all fairly seasonal flowers and plants suited to care at this time of year. Fellow flower lovers, what other easy-to-grow, shade-tolerant plants have you kept? You are welcome to leave a comment and share your thoughts.
