Put a plastic bottle on your pothos and the roots will grow like crazy, with leaves bigger than your palm
Tie a plastic bottle to your pothos and the leaves will be as big as 10 palms!
Every time you see someone else's pothos pole that is big and dense, don't you feel especially envious? But when it comes to doing it yourself, you shake your head: that won't work, I don't have a PVC pipe at home. Don't worry, today let's try making a pothos pole with a plastic bottle!
Steps:
1. First prepare the needed materials: empty plastic bottles, a flower pot, pothos, etc. Cut off both the top and bottom of the plastic bottle, then poke holes in the bottle wall.
2. Prepare the soil. Soak coconut coir brick in water, mix it with perlite at a ratio of 2:1, then add one part leaf mold and stir evenly, and it becomes nutrient-rich potting soil!
3. Prepare a slightly larger flower pot, place the hole-poked plastic bottle in the middle of the pot, then line the bottom of the pot with some pine needles, and put the prepared nutrient soil in.
4. Take the pothos seedlings prepared in advance and gently insert them into the soil around the circle of the plastic bottle.
5. Find another empty plastic bottle, cut off the bottom of this bottle, then turn it upside down onto the first plastic bottle.
6. Add pine bark into the plastic bottle. If you want the pothos to grow more vigorously, you can also mix in some compound fertilizer granules.
7. Prepare palm fiber and wrap the entire plastic bottle with it. About 2 layers is enough, and a pothos pole is done! Later, as the pothos vines keep growing longer and climbing upward, you can gradually increase the number of plastic bottles.
8. During the growth process of the pothos, aerial roots will continuously take root on the palm fiber and keep climbing upward. Moreover, as the pothos pole keeps growing, the pothos stems will become thicker and sturdier, and the leaves will also become bigger and bigger!
Add some water to a plastic bottle and the pothos roots will be bright white!
Many plant lovers want to grow pothos, but what should they do if they have no soil at home? Why not try the water propagation method? Not only does it root quickly, it also takes up no space at all. Just place it casually on a desk or similar spot and it can grow vigorously!
Steps:
1. Cut an empty plastic bottle open from the middle, keep only the lower half, and discard the upper half.
2. Cut a few stem sections from the mother pothos plant, and let the wounds dry slightly for later use.
3. Add about 2/3 clean water to the plastic bottle, drop the stem sections into the plastic bottle, and make sure the lower ends of the stem sections contact the water surface.
4. Basically, it only takes about 1 week for the water-propagated pothos to take root!
5. You can also cut open a section on the side of the plastic bottle, lay the bottle horizontally, then place the pothos stem sections horizontally into the plastic bottle so that the aerial roots of the pothos stem sections contact the water surface, and new roots will soon sprout!
Add something to a plastic bottle and pothos rooting will be super fast!
Autumn is exactly the good time for cuttings. If you miss now, you can only wait until next year! And cuttings do not need any professional flower pot at all; a few plastic bottles are completely enough!
Steps:
1. Cut healthy stem sections from the mother pothos plant, cut the stems into small sections of 5-7cm, and each stem section had better have some aerial roots, so that it can root more easily.
2. Prepare empty plastic bottles, use scissors to cut the plastic bottles into two sections, then poke a few small holes in the bottom of the plastic bottles for water drainage and air permeability.
3. Fill the plastic bottle with perlite or loose, breathable nutrient soil, insert the pothos stem sections to be propagated directly into the plastic bottle, then place in
4. It basically only takes about 7-10 days for pothos propagated in plastic bottles to take root!
