Growing flowers can bring us a beautiful and joyful mood, and when the potted plants we grow do well, it gives us an even greater sense of accomplishment. Some little tricks, when applied to growing flowers, really work well!

1. Using leftover vegetable leaves as flower fertilizer

Those leftover vegetable leaves picked out in the kitchen often pile up in a big heap and get thrown straight into the trash can, but they are actually very suitable for making flower fertilizer. The method is very simple: you can mix them with garden soil to make nutrient soil. Using the hamburger-layering method, put a layer of soil in the flower pot, then a layer of vegetable leaves, then cover with another layer of soil, filling the pot layer by layer this way, and finally cover it with plastic wrap. Generally, after about 3 months it will be completely decomposed.

2. Baijiu to promote blooming

Using baijiu to promote blooming is mainly for Clivia (Clivia miniata). When Clivia shows stunted growth, you can water it with baijiu, which can help it reach the flowering stage faster. When using baijiu to water flowers, every 20 days pour some diluted baijiu into the Clivia pot, watering along the edge of the pot, which can make Clivia grow vigorously without stopping, with leaves growing thicker and thicker, and blooms that are red and vivid.

3. Watering flowers with rice-washing water

Rice-washing water is very common in daily life, and it is a pity to just pour it away. In fact, rice-washing water is rich in elements such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, and supplies abundant nutrients that can promote plant growth. It is very good water for watering flowers. Long-term use can make potted plants have lush branches and leaves, and the flower colors bright. However, note that rice-washing water must be fully fermented and then diluted with water before it can be used to water flowers.
