Nowadays, succulent plants are becoming more and more popular. Many people like to place some little succulents at home as decoration. Succulents look round and chubby, very cute, but you surely do not know that some succulent plants are toxic. So this means you need to pay extra attention when buying them. Next, the curator will talk about several kinds of toxic succulent plants.

1. The succulent Qilin palm (Euphorbia neriifolia)

Qilin palm is a succulent plant that is fairly tolerant of heat, but its whole body is full of toxic sap. After breaking open the leaves of Qilin palm, a white toxic liquid will flow out. If the sap of Qilin palm splashes onto human skin, then the skin will develop symptoms such as redness, swelling and itching. If the sap accidentally splashes into the eyes, it may very likely cause blindness.

2. The succulent dragon bone (Euphorbia trigona)

Dragon bone is a relatively large succulent plant. The appearance of dragon bone looks like a cactus, and its stems and roots are covered with sharp thorns. The fleshy stem of dragon bone is filled with white toxic liquid, which cannot be eaten and cannot be splashed into the eyes. But everything has two sides: the flowers of dragon bone can be used as medicine, and its flowers have effects such as relieving cough and reducing phlegm, clearing heat and detoxifying, and nourishing and beautifying the skin.

3. The succulent jade plant (Crassula ovata)

Jade plant is a relatively common succulent plant, and the white liquid inside its stems and roots is highly toxic. If the skin comes into contact with the white liquid, symptoms such as redness, swelling and allergies will appear. Unlike other plants, jade plant cannot purify the air; instead, it absorbs oxygen. So it is not recommended to keep jade plant at home.

4. Crown of thorns (Euphorbia milii)

We can also call crown of thorns by the name iron begonia. Several beautiful small flowers bloom on its branches, but the stem and root area is full of sharp thorns. After breaking off the thorns, you can see a white sap, and this sap has an irritating effect on the human body. If swallowed by mistake, it will cause the person who ate it to feel dizzy and see stars, or even feel nauseous and want to vomit.

5. The succulent qunluan (Othonna herrei)

The appearance of qunluan is like grapes, with small green granules pressed close together, very cute. But beneath its beautiful exterior, it hides toxic sap. The liquid inside it will cause people to have allergic reactions.
