During the Mid-Autumn Festival, succulents should also share in the festive joy. In the moon boat they vie in beauty, with fragrance everywhere and sincere blessings

Today we will teach you how to make a "succulent moon boat." In fact, once you start making it, it really is not complicated!

1. Preparation

Materials:Plastic-coated garden iron wire: 3.2-3.8MM and 2.0MM, two kinds;

Aluminum wire:3.5MM and 1.5MM, two kinds; plastic beads with a hole diameter of 1.5MM;

Tools:Lineman's pliers, needle-nose pliers, round-nose pliers, a small knife, a soft tape measure;

2. Making process: Taking the making of a moon boat with an outer ring diameter of 30CM as an example

1. Outer frame: Choose 3.8MM plastic-coated iron wire, and use lineman's pliers to cut 3 lengths of wire: 97.2CM, 81.5CM, and 65.8CM. Use needle-nose pliers or a small knife to remove about 2CM of the plastic coating from both ends, then hook them together. The bent hook portion is about 1CM long.

This process requires lineman's pliers and a fair amount of strength to complete (it is recommended to ask a strong man in the family for help). After hooking, the 3 rings need to be reshaped, that is, bent as much as possible into standard circles: when finished, the diameters are 20CM, 25CM, and 30CM respectively.

2. Assembling the boat:First fix the top of the moon boat. The order of the 3 rings is 20CM (boat back), 30CM (boat bottom), and 25CM (boat face). The hooked parts will protrude when tied. To make the protrusions less obvious, stagger the 3 hook positions when binding. Use 1.5MM aluminum wire for binding.

3. Next, fix the bottom of the boat, using 2.0MM plastic-coated iron wire, cut to a length of 29CM. After fixing, the distance between the boat back and the boat bottom is about 10CM, and the distance between the boat bottom and the boat face is also 12CM; fix the two sides of the boat at positions 13CM down from the top on both sides, also using 2.0MM plastic-coated iron wire;

4. Shaping:After the above 4 positions are bound and fixed, shape the entire boat body. In this way, a complete moon boat main frame is finished;

5. Weaving the net:Use the simplest fishing net weaving method, starting from one side of the boat body. Cut about 1.4 meters of 1.5MM aluminum wire, 6 pieces in total. Fix the starting ends at equal distances on the boat frame, then twist adjacent 2 pieces together, twisting 2 knots, and so on. Try to keep the mesh holes uniform in size;

6. Weaving,during the process pay attention to shaping the boat body. It should not be too tight or too loose, so as to avoid deforming the boat body, until it is complete. Still use 6 aluminum wires to close the opening;

7. Shaping:Make it look more like a moon boat. Done!

Upgraded version of the moon boat:Taking the making of a moon boat with an outer ring diameter of 25CM as an example

Choose all-black materials or all-white materials to make it more exquisite;

(1) The outer frame is made the same as above;

(2) Assembling the boat:The top fixing is the same as above, only adding top decoration; make connecting patterns for the bottom and both side faces (specific dimensions can be adjusted at your own discretion). After making the patterns with 2MM plastic-coated iron wire, fix them to the boat frame with 1.5MM aluminum wire. Cut all the aluminum wire used for binding to a length of 8CM, so that each node is the same size and more beautiful;

(3) Weaving the net:This process can be much more varied, but basically it consists of heart-shaped, phoenix-tail, and large and small S-shaped patterns, made with 3.5MM aluminum wire and 1.5MM aluminum wire, and suitable beads can be threaded at the curled centers of the patterns. First make them according to the dimensions needed at each position on the boat body. After making the patterns, also use 8CM lengths of aluminum wire for binding and fixing;

(4) Reinforcement:Using 3.5MM aluminum wire to make patterns can make the boat body look sturdier and the lines more beautiful. The density of the patterns can be controlled freely. Estimate by yourself that the density is enough to support the contents.

(5) Shape it, and it is done!

3. Lining the bottom:

You can use coconut coir, or use sand mesh cloth plus water moss as the bottom lining. Cut it to fit the shape of the moon boat and sew the bottom. If the lining is unstable, you can use 1.5MM aluminum wire to fix it in several places;

4. Planting succulents:

At this time you will find that a moon boat designed with these dimensions is more convenient for planting and viewing, because the boat back is raised, so planting can be done in 2 to 3 layers of different heights. Clever, right? OK, use ordinary succulent potting mix. Plant in moist soil, arrange the plants well, hang it in a ventilated and shaded position, let it recover and adapt to the boat, and it is done!
