Recently some gardening friends have been asking: as autumn arrives, many flowers have their own little autumn care routines, so how should we care for the pothos at home to keep the plant from developing yellow leaves and to make it grow rapidly?

Pothos is an evergreen plant that stays green all year round, and the care for each season is actually not all that different, but the autumn climate is different from before after all, and there are four aspects we still need to pay attention to.

Light

Pothos originally grew in tropical jungles, so its growth characteristics determine that its need for light is not great, and it is very shade-tolerant.

In summer we always stressed that pothos should be shaded to avoid strong light. But once autumn arrives, we need to give the pothos at home some sun appropriately. In autumn pothos leaves tend to turn yellow, and they need some light to promote the formation of chlorophyll and keep the leaves evergreen.

Watering

In autumn the temperature drops, water evaporates more slowly, and the watering frequency should be less than in summer, keeping the flower pot slightly moist; watering about once every 5 days or so is enough. When watering, it is recommended to use more fermented rice water, fish tank water, and the like at this time.

Humidity

The autumn climate is dry, which is not particularly good for the growth of pothos. We need to regularly spray some water on the leaves and around them; you can place it where there is a humidifier, or use a plastic bag to cover the plant to humidify it, but not for long, otherwise it will affect the plant's photosynthesis and respiration.

Pruning

After autumn begins, some old leaves and diseased leaves of the pothos will gradually wither and turn yellow, and we need to promptly remove these diseased and old leaves

If there are quite a few yellowed and diseased leaves, we need to check whether the plant's root system has rotted or been infected with bacteria; if so, we need to immediately trim the roots, cut the branches, and repot.

It is recommended that everyone try to use new soil; if that is not possible, pour out the pot soil, loosen it, put it in the sun to dry, and then repot it.

Pothos is easy to grow; pay attention to these four points in autumn, and there will basically be no problem. It can still grow rapidly, and withered and yellow leaves will be kept at bay.
