Some people say that when growing orchids, planting is three parts and management is seven parts, and you can see that orchid management is especially important. Once we understand the temperament of orchids, we no longer fear that they are being fussy. First, apart from registration, orchids should all be cared for under a shade shed, and in the morning and evening they should be opened to receive dew; even more so, a shady and humid environment is needed, as this can extend the flowering time.

In winter, what is needed is only weak light. Second, orchids are indeed a little picky about their environment: they like a humid environment, yet the potting soil must also be dry. Every day, the humidity around the orchid should be increased, and sprinkling water can solve this. In winter, keeping the potting soil slightly dry can make the orchid's nutrients more concentrated.

Using broken bricks and charcoal can both keep the potting soil from becoming waterlogged. Third, orchid illness can be observed on the leaves. Generally, if the leaves turn yellow and are thin, that is caused by a lack of fertilizer. If scorching starts from the leaf tip and spreads downward, it may be caused by applying raw fertilizer, or by overfertilizing.

However, if scorching spreads from the bottom upward, then you have watered too much. There are also some cases where blackening and yellowing appear in the middle of the leaf; this is caused by too great a temperature difference between the water temperature and the soil outside. So studying orchid-growing experience carefully is still of great benefit for growing orchids.
