This year's chrysanthemum show displays a total of 269,000 pots of various chrysanthemums, distributed across the China Flower Expo Park, Zhongshan Park, and Xixia Park. More than 500 varieties of chrysanthemums are on display, including spray chrysanthemums, single-stem chrysanthemums, specimen chrysanthemums, multi-stem chrysanthemums, cliff chrysanthemums, and artistic chrysanthemums. Among them, more than 100 new varieties such as Pink Lotus, Green Anna, and Pink Frost All Over the Sky were introduced from Beijing, Henan, and other places.
In order to extend the blooming period of the chrysanthemums, the Yinchuan Institute of Landscape Planning and Design adopted techniques such as short-day shading treatment during the cultivation process, so as to present the chrysanthemums in their most beautiful state to viewers.
Pei Xian'e, Director of the Yinchuan Institute of Landscape Planning and Design: The production process of chrysanthemums is relatively complex. From cutting small pots to flowering, the earliest cuttings should have started after the Spring Festival last year. During the production process, in order to make each flower bloom very large, buds must be removed, that is, the small flowers beside it must be pinched off, leaving only one to bloom. So the entire process is especially complex.
This year's chrysanthemum show features richer shapes than in previous years. The artistic chrysanthemum shapes have made breakthroughs in size and fineness, with innovative binding of large chrysanthemums with a diameter of more than 6 m and the creation of giant bonsai chrysanthemums with a trunk height of more than 3.5 m.
Xue Jianjun, Deputy Director of the Greening Division I of the Yinchuan Municipal Landscape Bureau: After hollowing out, fill it with substrate. After wrapping it well with gauze, insert grass, insert grass. This cannot lack water. After we install the micro-pots through water supply treatment, we carry out sprinkler irrigation in the morning and evening every day and water it to ensure the freshness of the grass and the quality of the green sculpture.
