Bougainvillea not blooming? Try this little trick, and in a month it will sprout flower buds and bloom more and more

Bougainvillea is also called paperflower. Its colors are rich and varied, including red, pink, purple, white and so on. If bougainvillea is well cared for, it can bloom for several months a year, and its flowering period is especially long. It can even bloom from summer into autumn, especially bougainvillea grown in the south, which can bloom for months even when planted casually by the roadside. Xiaoya has seen bougainvillea grown by many friends still in full, gorgeous bloom right now, but many friends are puzzled: why does the potted bougainvillea they keep at home show not a single flower bud?
If bougainvillea does not bloom, try this method: in one month it will sprout flower buds and bloom more and more
Why does bougainvillea not bloom? Some even grow lush leaves and branches, only producing leaves and no flowers. The reasons are these, and it will be fine with a little attention.
Insufficient sunlight will affect flowering. If it is kept deep inside a balcony or indoors in a place with too weak light for a long time, it is prone to leggy growth. Bougainvillea is a full-sun plant, and even if it can bloom in a shaded place, the amount of bloom will be very small. The more sun it gets, the more it blooms!
Too little pruning: especially for potted bougainvillea, the more you prune, the more side buds and side branches can sprout, and the greater the flower quantity. Especially after the flowering period has passed, you must prune immediately. The pruning method is to cut off one third of the length of the entire branch. It can also be pruned in winter, and the pruning can be even heavier. The more you prune, the more it blooms.
Too much watering will also affect flowering. When growing bougainvillea, water only when you see the potting soil has dried. There is a watering trick that can promote it to bloom as soon as possible: during the bud-setting period, do one round of withholding water, reducing from watering once every three days at the beginning to once every five days. When you see the leaves gradually drooping a little and slightly wilting, water thoroughly once again. With this water withholding, after one month, it can promote its flower buds to sprout very quickly.
Only with sufficient fertilizer can it bloom abundantly. In winter, bury some fertilizer in the pot, such as soybean cake fertilizer or chicken manure fertilizer. Usually apply a small amount of compound fertilizer once a month. When flower buds appear, promptly spray a little potassium dihydrogen phosphate. Do not apply only nitrogen fertilizer. In this way it can bloom especially abundantly.
If sufficient light, sufficient water and fertilizer, timely pruning, and slight water withholding are all done, then apart from the occasional dormant period, it will easily bloom in a full pot. It will definitely bloom especially abundantly.
Looking at the bougainvillea I grow on my balcony blooming brightly and beautifully, with flowers to enjoy every day, I am truly especially happy!
