Cacti belong to the cactus family, specifically the spiny cactus (Opuntia), and can grow to over one meter tall, forming clumping, fleshy growth. They have hard spines. Many desert areas have plenty of cacti, but nowadays many plant lovers like to grow cacti as potted plants. Because cacti can purify the air, placing them on a balcony or computer desk is great, and many kinds of cacti can also bloom and bear fruit. How should you grow cacti? Xiaoya has grown several pots, and it is actually very simple. Just pay attention to these small details:

When growing cacti, pay attention to one small detail, and in one year they will grow to a bursting pot, growing taller and blooming!

Cacti are especially easy to propagate. If you want to grow cacti, you do not need to spend a single penny or buy anything. Just go to a nearby relative or friend who has grown them, and cut off one cactus pad, and that is enough. Bring it back and stick it directly into the potting soil. There is no need to shade it, just water it directly. The soil can be sandy soil, or ordinary garden soil. Except in winter, this propagation method works in all other seasons, and roots grow especially fast.

For the soil used to grow cacti, there is no need to add base fertilizer, and it does not need to be especially fertile, otherwise root rot easily occurs. Generally, just drainage-and-air-permeable sandy soil containing lime is enough. You can use leaf mold soil or peat soil with some coarse sand, fine sand, or crushed coal cinders added to increase air permeability and drainage.

When it rains for a long time, potted cacti should not be left outdoors in the rain all the time, otherwise the potting soil will become waterlogged, and root rot, stem rot, and so on easily occur. Although it is fairly drought-tolerant, in spring, summer, and autumn, when the potting soil is dry, it still needs to be watered in time, otherwise, if it is not watered for too long, the pads easily become wrinkled and dry.

Fertilizing cacti is fairly flexible. Never apply too much fertilizer at one time. You can use some fermented cake fertilizer water, fish intestine water, and so on, diluted before watering.

Cacti need plenty of light, because they like sunlight. Larger cacti can be placed outdoors directly in summer, while smaller cacti should be shaded in summer. When the summer temperature is above 35°C, they enter a dormant state. In winter, as long as the temperature does not drop below 5°C, they can successfully overwinter. In winter, be sure to water less, and keep the potting soil slightly dry, and they can successfully overwinter.

If you grow cacti according to this method, they do not need special care, and they can grow to a bursting pot. Some plant lovers' cacti have grown to over one meter tall and can also produce beautiful flowers.
