SinoPac's Solar Financing Leap: The Industry's Best Driving Force
Responding to the green energy trend, SinoPac Bank announced yesterday (the 18th) that it is jointly participating in 2018 Taiwan International Smart Energy Week (ENERGY Taiwan), marking its second consecutive year of exhibiting and sharing experience face-to-face with government and enterprises, and providing the best financial solutions for the solar energy industry. Lin Hung-yang, head of the Corporate Finance Division at SinoPac Bank, said that as of the end of August this year (2018), the financing balance for solar power plants it has helped build had grown by more than 80% compared with the end of 2017. At the same time, in line with government policy, the bank has developed financial services for "floating" power plants and provided bridge loans to ease the funding burden of building power plants, while solidly establishing a presence in places and industrial chains including New Taipei City, Tainan City and Taoyuan City, linking up green energy across the island to jointly build a green homeland.
SinoPac Bank has been actively engaged in solar financing projects since 2012, and cumulatively up to the first half of this year, it has helped build power plants with an installed photovoltaic capacity of more than 500 MW (megawatts). Division head Lin Hung-yang said SinoPac has adopted strategies such as deepening its presence in counties and cities, supporting enterprises and promoting through multiple channels, successively cooperating with the governments of New Taipei, Tainan and Taoyuan and the industrial zones within their areas to provide integrated financial services, and working with the Solar Photovoltaic Industry Association and the System Commercial Trade Association to assist industry financing. To date it has financed more than 1,400 solar power plants, and expects to increase that to 2,000 by the end of 2020, hoping to contribute, through its role as a professional financial advisor, together with all citizens to a sustainable Taiwan.
Division head Lin Hung-yang said SinoPac continues to fully support the industrial chain and customer needs, and this year also received the "Best Green Finance Award" from Excellence magazine. He expressed the hope that SinoPac's dedication to green finance will become an important driving force for a sustainable Taiwan, and that it will continue to advance toward its corporate vision of "achieving a better life through finance."
