Care Tips After Succulent Leaf Cuttings Sprout to Effectively Improve the Survival Rate

I have always found succulent propagation methods very interesting. Only a succulent leaf can transform into another succulent body. Many succulent lovers like to grow new succulents this way, but the survival rate is not high. Sometimes the leaf has already sprouted but it still dies. In fact, the survival rate of succulent leaves depends on the condition of the leaf, and partly on the care after the leaf is inserted. Many succulent lovers think that as long as more succulent leaves sprout, they can let go, but that is not the case. Even if the leaf has already sprouted after being inserted, you should not let your guard down. Taking good care of the succulent is good.
The initial stage of succulent leaves is very simple. The requirements are not many. Remember two things: first, do not lie in the sun, and second, do not wash in water. This is the transition period during which the leaf will not change. After about 10-20 days, roots and small buds will increase. The leaf bed can be moist, but it must be ventilated. Depending on the variety, the time for rooting and budding will differ. Leaf temperature will also affect rooting time and the survival rate. Be a little patient.
After the initial preparation of the leaf insert, about 10-20 days later, the sprouts grow, and at this point we will begin the post-care of the leaf insert.
1. Avoid direct sunlight: at this time the succulent is still very weak, so just place it in a bright place and avoid direct sunlight. If the variety does not have high demands, we do not have to let sunlight expose it. When necessary, it can be done sooner or later when the sun is weak; let the sun shine for a while, and the light can be increased step by step. Do not heat it for a long time.
2. Watering: the soil surface does not need to be merely moist; you can water the soil appropriately, but do not soak it with water. Too much water will make the new seedlings rot.
3. Seedlings: when the sprouts grow a little bigger, about 2 cm, at this time I suggest moving them to grow together with larger succulents, so the small succulents will grow better than before and the growth rate will be faster. One point: transplanting seedlings can best be done in spring and autumn; the new environment should ensure the soil is loose, which is good for root growth.
In addition, after leaf insertion the succulent roots need water for support, so the soil for succulents with more leaves should be moist, the soil should have better ventilation and water permeability, and the environment where the succulents are placed should be as ventilated as possible. But if the soil is moist, succulent leaves are very prone to mildew. Therefore, the editor suggests that you can mix a small amount of carbendazim into the soil, which can greatly reduce the possibility of black rot in the succulents. If the succulent still has black rot, it must be removed in time to avoid infecting other leaves. If the leaf is black, it is recommended to carefully loosen the soil with a toothpick. Look at the whole place and check the light. If the leaf is black or the back is very ugly, and wrinkled folds are a sign of water, then it is basically watery. The face is very ugly and wrinkled, basically watery. I have placed such leaves on the soil to continue sending, and the result was that the blades went crazy like growing roots, but just did not sprout, and in the end they were thrown away.
