Growing flowers can be said to be a very eco-friendly hobby. It not only beautifies the environment but also decorates the home. Small things that are not commonly seen at home can work surprisingly well when used for growing flowers. Below is a rundown of great tips for growing flowers.

1. Foam

The most direct use of foam boxes is as flower pots. Foam boxes are lightweight, neat, and affordable, and their insulation performance is also outstanding, making them very suitable for use as flower pots. Besides being used as flower pots, they can also be broken into small pieces and placed at the bottom of relatively deep flower pots. This can provide a certain degree of breathability and drainage, and can also prevent flower roots from being frostbitten in winter.

2. Vegetable leaves

Every day we pick out quite a lot of vegetable leaves. In fact, they are also very suitable for making flower fertilizer. They can be mixed with garden soil to make nutrient soil. The method is also very simple: in a flower pot, put a layer of soil, then a layer of vegetable leaves, and fill the pot layer by layer like this. Then cover it with plastic wrap and put it in the sun. Generally, it can fully decompose in two to three months.

3. Loofah sponge

Loofah sponge is a very good material for lining pots. After splitting open an old loofah sponge, use a hammer to crush the seeds inside, then cut it into sections and place them at the bottom of the flower pot. This can enhance the breathability and water permeability of the potting soil, allowing water to pass through without soil leaking out.

4. Stockings

Torn stockings are usually thrown away. Cut unused stockings into palm-sized small pieces, place them over the drainage holes of the flower pot, and then put the original potting soil back in. This not only prevents soil from leaking out, but is also relatively breathable and water-permeable.
