Agricultural Champion Taiwan Yunlin Heads to the 2018 Japan Tokyo Travel Fair
Agricultural Yokozuna - Taiwan Yunlin - Heading to the 2018 Japan Tokyo Travel Fair
The Japan Tokyo Travel Fair is the largest tourism event in Northeast Asia each year. The Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications led industry representatives and local governments to form a delegation, promoting Taiwan tourism for four consecutive days from September 20 to September 23. This year, Yunlin County will be represented by the Yunlin tourism ambassador "Qi Meng Zi," bringing Yunlin's distinctive agricultural products, wonderful cultural activities and agricultural tourism to Tokyo to participate in the travel fair.
Yunlin County Magistrate Li Jinyong stated that "Yokozuna" is the highest rank of Japanese sumo wrestlers. Yunlin's agriculture is like a Yokozuna wrestler - whether in quality or output, it ranks among the top in Taiwan. For example, the Kouhu and Sihu areas are the largest-producing and highest-quality "mullet roe" (karasumi) production areas in all of Taiwan. The distinctive mark of Yunlin mullet roe is a small piece of fish belly meat visible at the front end. The renowned "Gukeng coffee" was a tribute offering to the Emperor during the Japanese colonial period, and the neighboring Douliu City also had the largest coffee factory in the Far East at that time. The "black garlic," known for its black power and popular in Japan, combines high-quality garlic with first-class agricultural technology, making it an internationally bestselling product from Yunlin. These are all dishes Yunlin can present on the international stage.
In addition to the four-day exhibition at the venue, the Yunlin County Government team will also make a special visit to the "Tokyo University of Agriculture Museum of Food and Agriculture," connecting rural and urban areas through exhibitions, and gaining a better understanding of the relationship between producers and consumers through hands-on experiences. They will also visit the renowned Japanese agricultural design company "Farmstead.inc," which has published the book "Changing Agriculture Through Design" and is dedicated to the design of Japan's primary industries, enhancing the value of farms and ranches. It is hoped that through in-depth exchange and interaction, valuable experience can be gained and transformed into action plans, advancing Yunlin's agriculture and tourism to the next level.
