If you want your home to be more than just green, with more color and plants that are easy to care for, then you can try growing coral bells (Heuchera). This plant is mainly grown for its foliage, and its leaves differ in color throughout all four seasons, colorful and dazzling, and it is also very easy to grow, making it a great choice as a potted plant.

Coral bells are relatively cold-hardy, tolerating temperatures as low as minus 20°C, and the most beautiful season for viewing coral bells is winter and early spring when it is still fairly cold. At that time many flowers cannot tolerate the cold and go dormant, leaving basically nothing to admire, so in ordinary outdoor landscape design and courtyard greening, coral bells are one of the more commonly planted ornamental plants.

As for growing coral bells in pots, they can be grown in most areas whether in the south or the north, kept on a balcony, and in winter they do not need to be moved indoors to overwinter.

Coral bells can tolerate partial shade, but they cannot tolerate strong sun or heat, and they prefer full light. There is not much to say about the other seasons; what mainly needs attention is summer, when you should focus on cooling them down and avoiding direct exposure to strong sunlight.

Follow the principle of "water when dry, withhold when wet" when watering, because coral bells do not like being too damp. Each watering of coral bells should be thorough, and you should wait until the growing medium is completely dry before watering. Doing this ensures normal plant growth and reduces the chance of the plant being infected by pathogens.

As for fertilizing, during the growing period of coral bells you can apply a water-soluble fertilizer twice a month to help it grow better.

One last point: growing coral bells is still very easy. Whether in full light or a partially shaded environment, whether the soil is slightly dry or slightly moist, they can all grow well, making them a great choice for a home potted flower.
