Why Are Periwinkle Leaves Turning Yellow? Causes and Solutions

Flowers & Gardening 0 views
There are several reasons why periwinkle leaves turn yellow. If it is caused by improper watering, water thoroughly once the potting soil dries out and control watering. If it is caused by excessive sun exposure, spray more water to lower the temperature. If it is cold damage from temperatures that are too low, move it indoors promptly. If it is caused by improper fertilizing, water the plant to dilute the fertilizer, and do not fertilize arbitrarily.

1. Proper watering

Cause: Periwinkle leaves may turn yellow because of too little or too much watering. Too much water causes root rot and yellowing of new leaves; too little water causes leaves to turn yellow from lack of water, or too few leaves leads to a reduced number of roots.

Solution: Control watering, and pay attention to drainage during the rainy season. When the potting soil has dried out, water thoroughly.

2. Suitable light

Cause: Periwinkle leaves may also turn yellow due to excessive sun exposure. In summer, when the midday sun is strong, direct sunlight hitting the plant causes the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Avoid direct strong light, provide shade promptly, and spray water on the leaves to lower the temperature.

3. Suitable temperature

Cause: Unsuitable temperature. If the temperature is too low, below 5°C, cold damage is likely to occur and can also cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: Move it indoors promptly in winter and keep the temperature well controlled.

4. Proper fertilizing

Fertilizing problems: using too much fertilizer can burn the seedlings, or a lack of fertilizer can also cause the leaves to turn yellow.

Solution: When fertilizing, liquid fertilizer and compound fertilizer can be used alternately, and do not fertilize arbitrarily. If too much fertilizer has been applied, water promptly the next day to dilute the fertilizer.
