Propagating roses and gardenias from cuttings: use a plastic water bottle, insert one cutting and grow a whole pot

I believe many of you have grown these two flowering plants at home, roses and gardenias! The rose looks quite similar to the rose, so it is loved by many people, and the rose has large, bright flowers and is also called the queen of flowers, and once it blooms it can last as long as 200 days, no wonder many flower lovers like to keep a pot at home. Now let's talk about the gardenia: its flowers are pure white, and when it blooms it also gives off a captivating fragrance, so many people also like to grow gardenias.
Although many people know that flowers can be propagated by cuttings, the survival rate of some of the cutting methods used is really dismal, which has also dampened the confidence of many flower lovers in taking cuttings. So some flower lovers are unwilling to take cuttings even if they have these two kinds of flowers at home, feeling it is a waste of time. But today I will share a great cutting method with you: when taking cuttings of roses and gardenias, you only need one plastic water bottle, insert one cutting and grow a whole pot!
First, prepare a bottle and use scissors or a craft knife to divide the bottle into two sections. At this point be sure not to cut your hand. Just cut with the scissors at one third of the bottle, then turn the half with the bottle mouth upside down inside the bottle, forming a funnel shape. Then pour half a bottle of clean water into the bottle. The water quality must be good, otherwise bacteria will infect the cuttings and the success rate will naturally drop.
Next, choose relatively healthy branches of roses and gardenias, or branches that have grown for more than a year will also do. If you are not sure whether they have grown for a year, you can also directly choose the thicker branches among the plants. Basically this kind of branch has grown for a longer time, so the survival rate of cuttings will also be higher. After choosing the branch, use scissors to cut the wound of the branch at a slant, so the contact surface is larger and the chance of rooting will also increase.
Finally, put the trimmed branch into the bottle. At this point pay attention to the water level the branch touches; there is no need to submerge the whole branch in the water, but rather leave a little gap. If the branch has no support at the bottle mouth, you can use some foam to support it, but do remember not to plug the bottle mouth completely, otherwise the branch cannot breathe and the cutting will also fail. Roses and gardenias propagated this way not only root faster because of the suitable temperature, but the survival rate of the cuttings is also higher.
After the cuttings of roses and gardenias are done, you can just wait quietly for them to root. So have you learned this method of taking cuttings with one plastic water bottle? Basically, following this method, insert one cutting and you can grow a whole pot! I hope it can help you.
