[Bonsai Enthusiast's Reflections]

Text | Xiamen, Fujian @Zhou Yingzhi

There is a kind of exhaustion called overthinking; overthink a small matter, and it wears you out both mentally and physically; overthink a big matter, and you pile pressure on yourself; overthink a good thing, and it no longer excites you; overthink a bad thing, and you only grow more and more anxious. Let yourself off the hook, stop overthinking. The reason people live so tired is simply that they think too much.

Nothing in this world is flawless; sometimes imperfection is also a kind of beauty. In a lifetime, the best way to live is this: live every day with relish, and live with a clear conscience!

Appreciation of the frame-style bonsai Moon in the Clouds

Photos and text | Shanghai @Yu Gong

Three teachers from the Shanghai Bonsai and Viewing Stone Association, Shen Ligang, Chen Hanpei and Zhou Guanghui, worked together to create the frame-style bonsai Moon in the Clouds. Frame bonsai is highly creative and artistically expressive, and was pioneered by teachers Chen Hanpei and Zhou Guanghui. This bonsai artistic expression technique was first exhibited last year at the 4th China Style Bonsai Exhibition, and received widespread high praise from bonsai practitioners and all walks of life. This time, the veteran master of small bonsai creation, teacher Shen Ligang, was again invited to handle the transplanting of the foliage and the production adjustments of the work, making the whole piece even more perfect and more charming. The three teachers gifted the work to me. I hereby express my deep gratitude to the three teachers, and sincerely wish them the creation of even more outstanding bonsai works.
