?Once the weather turns cool, even the things we eat start leaning toward the starchy and soft. Think about it: don't you like to cook a pot of piping hot porridge at dawn, grab a roasted sweet potato from a street stall on your way home from work to warm your hands, and even steam some potatoes at home to eat?

Actually, this is just our nature. When it's hot in summer we naturally don't have much appetite, but when it's cold in winter we eat a bit more to keep out the chill, especially staple foods, which we just can't stop eating.

The vegetable Huahua wants to introduce to everyone today is the pumpkin, one of Huahua's favorite vegetables to eat on ordinary days. Many people think pumpkins are a staple food, but actually pumpkins are a vegetable. Friends who like pumpkins as much as Huahua do, quietly smile when you see today's article, because today Huahua will teach you how to grow pumpkins on a balcony, and when the pumpkins grow big enough to eat, it will truly be a happy moment!

After buying good pumpkin seeds from the market, choose a suitable container and dig the holes, keeping a certain distance between one hole and the next. Once you've controlled the spacing and dug the holes, put the pumpkin seeds in. One thing to note: when placing the pumpkin seeds, the pointed end should face down, so don't put them in the wrong way.

Cover the seeds with a layer of soil, not too thick and not too thin, about 2-3 cm is fine. Then you can water; when watering, be sure to water thoroughly, but pour slowly, so as to avoid the water washing the pumpkin seeds out.

If the sowing temperature is suitable, they will sprout in about half a month, at a temperature between 20-30°C. If the temperature is too low, we can soak the seeds in warm water to speed up sprouting.

Wait quietly for the pumpkins to sprout and grow into seedlings. When the pumpkin seedlings have grown to three to five leaves, you can transplant them. Transplanting ensures the pumpkins have growing space later on and lets them grow better.

When choosing the time to transplant, we should pick a relatively warm moment. You can bury them a little deeper, with the soil covering up to where the leaves are. After burying them, you can water, and the potting soil should be watered thoroughly~

After transplanting, you can fertilize, roughly around ten days later, mainly with nitrogen fertilizer. Gradually you'll notice the pumpkins start growing faster at this stage, and when the pumpkin leaves have grown to about ten, you can pinch off the growing tips.

When pumpkins are in the flowering stage, switch the fertilizer to decomposed organic fertilizer mainly based on phosphorus and potassium. When they have been flowering for 10-15 days, you can pick the fresh pumpkins and start eating!

Pumpkins at this time are the tenderest! If you don't believe it, try it right away! Everyone has different tastes; some like old pumpkins, some like tender ones. If you like tender pumpkins, you can wait a few more days before picking.

How about it, isn't it simple? Hurry up and get started!
